Public Allies Washington, D.C. Upon completion, each ally receives a $6,495 post-service education award to pay off student loans or fund future education.

Public Allies administers an AmeriCorps program creates opportunities for our region's young leaders to strengthen their communities through apprenticeships in nonprofit organizations, leadership training, and team service projects. Allies serve four days a week for 10 months at local nonprofits, where they create, improve and expand services that address issues including youth development, educat

ion, public health, economic development, and the environment. During the course of their service, Allies receive a monthly stipend of $2,460; and are eligible for health insurance, child care, and interest-free student loan deferment. Program requirement are as follows:

- must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
- must be between the ages of 18-30
- must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED
- must have a passion for community service
