In the United States 250th anniversary year of its founding, join DACOR for a timely discussion on “The Federal Role in Historic Preservation and Art Conservation.”

Featuring Joy Beasley of the National Park Service, Dr. Nick Hartigan of the General Services Administration, and Tatiana Ausema of the National Endowment for the Humanities, with Leah Ferguson, former Chair of the New Orleans Historic District Landmarks Commission, as moderator, this panel will explore how the federal government has helped preserve the nation's historic places, cultural heritage, and artistic treasures.

The program will begin with a screening of a new video tracing the history of the DACOR Bacon House, our historic home in the President's Neighborhood. Spanning more than 200 years, its story reflects the lives, accomplishments, and changing times that have shaped both the neighborhood and the nation.

The evening will conclude with a reception featuring hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar.

For more than 200 years, DACOR Bacon House has witnessed the history of Washington, D.C., and the nation. Beginning in the late 18th century with David Burnes, this new video takes us through the lives of the House’s owners, their accomplishments, and the many roles this historic home has played over the centuries.

A story deeply connected to the President’s Neighborhood; the House’s history is also a reflection of America’s own.

Created through months of dedicated work by a team of Dacoreans, with the support of DACOR President Tom Shannon and Vice President Marcia Bernicat, this video brings our beloved home’s remarkable history to life.

Join DACOR’s Latin America & Caribbean Luncheon Group for an in-depth conversation on the evolving security landscape across the Western Hemisphere.

Looking back on an extraordinary day at DACOR Bacon House.

Our Annual Conference brought together an impressive community of diplomats, foreign policy experts, scholars, and friends of DACOR Bacon House Foundation for a day filled with spirited discussion, thoughtful questions, and meaningful connections.

From the opening panel on alliances, trust, and U.S. leadership in the Americas, through our luncheon keynote on the future of U.S. leadership in the hemisphere, and into conversations on security, organized crime, strategic competition, and North American economic integration, the program offered no shortage of big questions—and even more perspectives.

Something we value a lot about gatherings like this is what happens around the program itself: conversations over coffee, ideas exchanged between sessions, old colleagues reconnecting, new connections being made, and a room full of people continuing the discussion long after a panel has ended.

And then there were the cocktails.

🎹✨ Music meets diplomacy.

DACOR and the The Public Diplomacy Council of America were delighted to welcome pianist and U.S. Arts Envoy Pauline Yang to the DACOR Bacon House for a memorable evening exploring the power of music to connect people across cultures and borders.

Through beautiful performances and stories from her experiences as a U.S. Arts Envoy, Pauline brought to life the unique role music can play in public diplomacy—creating connections that transcend language and geography.

✨ An unforgettable evening of history, diplomacy, and tradition at the DACOR Bacon House.

We were honored to celebrate the remarkable legacy of Virginia Murray Bacon with a special birthday dinner that brought the history of 1801 F Street vividly back to life on Wednesday.

For 57 years, Virginia Murray Bacon welcomed an extraordinary array of diplomats, public servants, artists, musicians, and leaders to her table, hosting more than 1,000 dinner parties in this historic home. For this special evening, our culinary team reached into those remarkable archives to recreate dishes inspired by menus she served between the 1920s and 1960s — from soft-shell crab and filet de boeuf to baba au rhum — accompanied by wines selected to evoke the era.

Guests gathered in the same rooms where generations of distinguished figures once exchanged ideas, built friendships, and shared meals, continuing Virginia Bacon’s belief in the power of good company and conversation.

Most importantly, proceeds from the evening benefit the House Preservation Fund of the DACOR Bacon House Foundation, helping protect this more than 200-year-old landmark and ensure that it remains a home for diplomacy, international understanding, and the foreign affairs community for generations to come.

Our sincere thanks to everyone who joined us and helped make this extraordinary celebration possible.
