Today is International Safe Abortion Day. 🧡

We’re marking the day by putting the spotlight on the independent abortion clinics doing this work every day — and inviting you to hear directly from the people in our network who are doing it.

In a recent episode of rePROs Fight Back, ACN Co-Executive Directors Nikki Madsen and Erin Grant shared what they want friends, supporters, and communities to know right now:

📣 When you hear about an abortion ban, share reliable information that abortion care is still available. Repost from ACN or direct people to INeedAnA.com.

📣 Refuse to participate in anything that criminalizes abortion providers. As Nikki says: “Just refuse.”

📣 Support independent clinics. Give to Keep Our Clinics — and if you’re an independent abortion provider, look us up and become an ACN member. You can sit with us.

Abortion care should be provided with dignity, autonomy, safety, and support — not stigma, discrimination, coercion, or violence.

Comprehensive abortion care includes accurate information, counselling where desired, medical and procedural abortion, quality-assured medicines, trained providers, referrals, and post-abortion care.

We know this, independent abortion providers know this, and we’ll continue to push for REAL comprehensive abortion care!

Regardless of the courts and constantly changing legal landscape, abortion and reproductive care are NOT just legal or illegal issues. They are a reality, an important part of our lives and communities.

Everyone deserves access to abortion care that is safe, equitable, and supported.

Medication abortion with mifepristone is safe, effective and available today—and that’s how it should stay.

Mifepristone access should be guided by science and patient needs—NOT politics.
