Today is International ! Established by the United Nations in 2011, Day of the Girl is a global moment to celebrate girls everywhere, amplifying their voices, actions and leadership.

Each year, a theme is developed through consultations with girls, girls’ organizations and girl-led networks as well as civil society organizations and United Nations partners. This year's theme is "End Child Marriage and Invest in Girls' Rights."

While child marriage is not something girls at WSG are facing, our girls recognize that their voices matter and believe all girls should have rights to choose their path forward. We look forward to sharing their voices throughout the day.

Thank you to all our friends old and new who joined us earlier this week for Evening for Education! We heard from Dr. Reaves about some of the great things happening at WSG, recruited volunteers for upcoming activities with students, and gained new members in our monthly giving program, the Savannah Street Society.

continues! Yesterday was Rep a College day - where students and staff wore swag from a college or university of their choosing. We had representation from HBCUs, the Ivy League, small liberal arts schools, big research universities, and everything in between.

📣Fun fact: Over the last five years, 92% of our graduates have enrolled in college or professional credentialing programs immediately after completing high school. 👩🏾‍🎓📚

It is ! Our amazing, newly elected Student Council members have planned a fun slate of themes to celebrate our community before transition to Intersession and Fall Break.

Today was Duo Day - where students had the option to pick a buddy and dress up as a favorite duo. We had Peanut Butter & Jelly, Lilo & Stitch, and so many more. Can you name them all?

Thank you Sonya Osei for kicking off the 2026-27 Leadership Series at WSG!

Sonya shared her perspective on finding balance in your life, building a strong foundation of skills, and knowing when to pivot. Students were particularly interested to hear how she balances a career in tech with a personal passion for dance, and how she has been able to pursue both professionally.

Our students benefit from meeting leaders like Sonya and hearing about the pathways that have brought them to their careers. She reflected on her own hopes and dreams when she was in middle school and the work it took to get there, sharing, "I am walking in blessings that I prayed about as a child. Reach for the stars and never limit yourself."

📣Uniform Reminder: WSG students are expected to be in their full Summer Uniform every day (or PE uniform based on their daily schedule.)

When we return from Fall Break, we will transition to the Standard Uniform. If you have not ordered your Standard Uniform items, be sure to visit Risse Brothers ASAP because it takes time for them to produce your items.

😎Summer Uniform (Pictured here, After Spring Break – Fall Break)
• WSG embroidered navy skort
• WSG logo t-shirt
• Sneakers (any color)
• White, navy blue, or steel gray socks

🍂Standard Uniform (After October Break – Spring Break)
• WSG kilt skirt, logo jumper, or pants
• WSG logo polo shirt: Yellow (3rd, 4th, and 5th grade), Navy blue (6th and 7th grade), White (8th grade)
• White, navy blue, or steel gray socks (knee-hi or crew) or tights
• Plain all black flat shoes: Mary Jane shoes, ballet flats, oxford, or penny loafer
style school shoes (shoes may not cover the ankle or have heels - no crocs or boots)
• WSG logo navy blue v-neck pullover or button up sweater (optional)
