The objectives of the Saint Andrew's Society are to afford charitable and educational assistance to Scotsmen, lineal descendants of Scotsmen, and to their widows and orphans, to perpetuate Scottish traditions and culture, and to promote social activities among its members. After a successful Alexandria Scottish Christmas Walk Weekend and whirlwind week of World Cup drawings and interviews with BBC Scotland, STV, and LBC, we'd like to turn our attention to a fundraising campaign for a sweet little girl.

Our new friends at North East Tartan Army are asking for support to
help a special little girl...and it is our mission to 'Relieve the Distressed'.

Here is Sophia's story - Sophia Wilson – a very brave 10-Year-Old Girl Fighting AML.

"This is our beautiful, bright and funny 10-year-old girl, Sophia from Sauchen, Aberdeenshire. In July 2025, our world crumbled when she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML). Despite the fear and uncertainty, Sophia has faced her treatment with incredible strength and courage. At first, her body responded well, and for a precious moment we believed she was winning her battle.

There is, however, one final glimmer of hope: a specialised drug available only in America. This treatment may be able to bring her cancer levels down enough for her to receive the life-saving stem cell transplant she urgently needs.

This treatment is urgent.

And with the cost of the drug, treatment, essential travel, and accommodation, the total may come to around £500,000."
