Thinking about applying for accreditation? NACCHO is pleased to announce a new funding opportunity for public health departments and organizations that provide technical assistance for accreditation (e.g. Public Health Institutes and SACCHOs) to prepare for or undertake accreditation activities. This opportunity is intended to increase the readiness of health departments to apply for national accreditation. Eligible applicants must identify an area of need around accreditation readiness and must demonstrate how they will use these funds to address this need and be better prepared to achieve accreditation.

Since 2003, NACCHO's Model Practices Awards program has honored initiatives—including programs, resources, and tools—that demonstrate how local health departments and their community partners can effectively collaborate to address local public health concerns. NACCHO will accept model practice applications October 10 through November 11, 2011.

The Public Health Model Practice Awards are given to members who have demonstrated their exceptional local public health practices.
