Yes, it’s been 20 years for Drew4Kids.

What started as the Drew Morton Foundation became something greater when I realized the real impact would come through simply being Drew4Kids.

Over time, we shifted. From serving hundreds at once to intentionally supporting children, youth, and their families by truly meeting them where they are.

And the truth is, meeting people where they are sometimes means doing less, more intentionally. It means focusing not on how many are served, but on where real impact, change, and purpose can truly take root.

20 years later, this is more than a vision. It’s impact. It’s legacy.

And I’m excited about what’s ahead. The next 20 years will be about deepening that impact, expanding our reach with intention, and continuing to build pathways for children, youth, and families to thrive.

I look forward to celebrating our journey, our progress, and our impact with our friends, supporters, the families we’ve had the honor to serve, and those who are just now learning about Drew4Kids.

Grateful for every life touched, every family supported, and every moment that continues to remind me why I started.

As we celebrate 𝟐𝟎 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 supporting children and youth, Drew4Kids is proud to announce the establishment of the 𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞 𝐉𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐲𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦, created to honor the life and legacy of Ms. Morton.

A poster child for Sickle Cell Anemia, Ms. Morton lived her life loving deeply, believing in possibility, and beating the odds every single day. Despite the challenges she faced, she always saw opportunities for her children instead of obstacles. Her unwavering belief in their future is the inspiration behind this scholarship program.

Through the Robnette Jerilys Morton Scholarship Program, 𝐃𝐫𝐞𝐰𝟒𝐊𝐢𝐝𝐬 will award a $5,000 grant renewable for up to four years, creating a potential $20,000 investment in a young person’s future. The program will also consider youth organizations that are working every day to expand opportunities for children and youth in their communities.

Yes, this is a 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥 and 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐟𝐮𝐥 investment. It is also the first and largest grant initiative ever launched by Drew4Kids.

After twenty years of standing in the gap for children and youth, we believe the moment has come to step forward in an even greater way. Twenty years means we must continue to grow, continue to lead, and continue to be the change we want to see in the lives of young people.

Application guidelines and full details will be released at our upcoming celebration this summer as we commemorate 20 years of supporting children and youth.

Something special is happening at Drew4Kids.

For nearly twenty years, Drew4Kids has been standing in the gap for children and youth who needed encouragement, opportunity, and someone who believed in them. What began as a commitment to show up for young people has grown into a mission that has touched countless lives and strengthened communities.

This year, we proudly celebrate 20 years of supporting children and youth through service, compassion, and love in action.

For two decades, Drew4Kids has worked to remove obstacles and replace them with opportunities. Through school support, food assistance, mentorship, community service, and acts of kindness, the foundation has remained committed to one simple belief: every child deserves the chance to believe in their future.

This summer, we will celebrate 20 years of supporting children.
We invite our community, friends, volunteers, and supporters who have been part of this journey to celebrate with us.

Throughout my journey, I’ve helped several people secure jobs, only to have some of those same people later close the door on me. Yet, despite those moments, I’ve learned that no closed door can stop the progress I’m meant to make. For every door that shuts, I’ve found a way to open a window.

I’m proud to have been able to help people not only get jobs but also pay off homes, cover daycare expenses, and make sure their families had memorable Christmases. These experiences have shown me that even when people forget or turn away, the act of giving and helping is never in vain—it shapes who we are and strengthens our resilience.

So, to those facing closed doors, know this: no obstacle is final, and often, the greatest opportunities come from the spaces we create ourselves. Keep pushing forward, because something better is always waiting on the other side.

Drew4Kids is partnering with Safe Shores – The DC Children’s Advocacy Center this year to help ensure the children they serve have the learning tools needed for the 2023-24 school year. Drew4Kids has been a proud supporter of Safe Shores for 8 years. Together, with you and other partners in our community, we’ll make sure that at least 150 children whose lives have been impacted by abuse in DC have some of the learning tools they need when they head back to class. To help kids and make Pack2School 2023 a success: Sponsor a backpack and school supply list for a child (or backpacks and lists). Make a monetary donation in support of the drive. No donation is too small, and every gift helps Safe Shores equip their clients with the tools they need for the school year ahead.
