On this Fourth of July, we commemorate the adoption of the Declaration of Independence and the enduring ideals that have shaped our nation for 250 years.
As the principal author of the Declaration, Thomas Jefferson gave voice to the revolutionary belief that “all men are created equal” and are endowed with the unalienable rights of “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” Those words have inspired generations of Americans to continue striving toward the promise of our founding principles.
Today, the Monticello Association honors Jefferson’s legacy, remembers the sacrifices of those who secured our independence, and celebrates the remarkable story of the United States as America marks its 250th anniversary.
Happy Independence Day 🇺🇸
