This year marks 100 years of Black History Month—a century of honoring the stories, resilience, brilliance, and contributions of Black people past and present.

As Howard alumni, we are especially proud of the role Howard University has played in shaping Black history. From producing visionary leaders and changemakers to serving as a cornerstone of activism, scholarship, and culture, Howard has long stood at the forefront of progress and possibility.

Today—and all month long—we celebrate Black history, Black excellence, and the enduring legacy of our Mecca.

Our Colorado Bison herd showed up in full force to welcome our amazing Howard University Alumni Association (HUAA) President, Dr. Kandice Harris, to the Mile High City! It was great connecting with so many new and familiar faces and we can’t wait to carry that energy into our holiday party next month. H-UUUU! 💙🦬

Howard taught us: In Truth and Service.
Our Colorado alumni showed exactly what that looks like. 💙 Members of HUAC-CO came together to contribute funds and collect food and hygiene items for those experiencing hardship. Together, we delivered more than $236 worth of essentials to the GreenSpaces food drive.

A huge THANK YOU to every Bison who contributed! 🦬💙 H-UUUU!

A quick heads-up before today’s 2:00 PM General Body Meeting:

There’s a “No Kings” protest taking place downtown starting at 12:00 PM, with marchers expected to begin between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM, based on shared information. This means there could be traffic congestion, blocked streets, and parking challenges around that time.

Please plan accordingly by:
• Allowing 30–45 extra minutes for travel.
• Considering alternative routes or public transit (though note that RTD may experience delays or rerouting).
• Checking nokings.org (https://nokings.org/) for updates on other planned protests across the state, as these may affect your route depending on where you’re coming from.

We still plan to hold the meeting as scheduled unless conditions become unsafe, but your safety and timely arrival are our priority. Please travel carefully and keep us posted if you experience any significant delays.

📣 College Fair Update 📣
We’re postponing our HBCU College Fair and it’s for the BEST reason! So many HBCUs, organizations, and local community partners wanted to be a part of the event but couldn't make the original date. We want to give our students the full experience so we're adjusting to make sure that happens 🙌🏾

A new date is coming soon with more schools, more resources, and more opportunities to connect with HBCUs.

💡 In the meantime… students can still experience a taste of the HBCU Yard right here in Denver! Join us at Mile High Yardfest: Vibes in the Park – Sun, Aug 24. It’s family-friendly and full of HBCU & Divine Nine pride, with DJs, food trucks, a greek stroll-off, and a chance to meet and connect with HBCU alumni who live right here in the city!
