Today and everyday, we are reminded that the fight for civil rights is ongoing. Americans have been resisting movements to take away those rights, including the right to vote, for nearly 250 years, and we're not stopping now. The resilience and strength of our ancestors is our legacy—just ask Fair Elections Center President & CEO Rebekah Caruthers, who's great-great-great-grandfather helped build a community in Texas where early Juneteenth celebrations helped register newly enfranchised Black men to vote.
This Juneteenth, we celebrate a holiday that honors the fight, the resistance, and the hard-won progress entwined in our nation's imperfect history. We hope you'll join us all year long as we continue that fight.
