For today’s , we’re excited to highlight three incredible local partner organizations:

1. The DC Mayor’s Office of LGBTQ+ Affairs (MOLGBTQA) () supports and advocates for DC’s LGBTQIA+ community by connecting residents to resources, services, and opportunities. The office works to advance inclusive policies, support community organizations, provide grants, and create programs and events that help LGBTQIA+ residents thrive across the District. 2. Mil Mujeres Legal Services () provides legal resources and services that improve the quality of life of victims and survivors of violent crimes. They offer support with asylum, U-Visas, Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), T-Visas, Youth Visas, Adjustments of Status, Work Permits, Naturalization, DACA, and more. 3. My School DC () is the public school lottery system for DC public and charter schools. Families applying for PK3, PK4, or a school outside their assigned boundaries can submit lottery applications through My School DC. Their goal is to support families by providing any additional assistance they need, such as help navigating language barriers, technology, and different school options. We are proud to celebrate one of our students, Ariel Eduardo Garibello, on the publication of his first book “After the Darkest Night”! 🎉

Written from personal experience, Ariel’s book shares a powerful story of resilience, family, faith, and perseverance through difficult times. It reminds us that even when life feels uncertain, there is always hope for a new beginning. Congratulations on this incredible milestone!

📚 You can find Ariel’s book in both Spanish and English in our WEC Library, under “Community Authors”. All are welcome to check it out!

Are you ready to take the next step in your career journey? Join us on Friday, June 5, from 11 AM–1 PM for a special Career Workshop with professionals from Deloitte ()! 🤝✨

Get valuable career advice, receive feedback on your resume and cover letter, and learn directly from experienced business professionals. If you already have a resume, please consider bringing a copy with you. We can also help with on-site printing if you email your resume and/or cover letter to [email protected] ahead of the event. 📄

📚 This event is open to students enrolled in Levels 2 and above. Alumni are also welcome to attend.

For today’s , we’re excited to spotlight three of the DC Mayor’s Offices that attended our fair:

1. Mayor’s Office on Asian and Pacific Islander Affairs (MOAPIA) () supports and advocates for DC’s AAPI community. They work with the Mayor, Council, and District agencies to address community needs, fund local organizations, and improve access to important services and resources. MOAPIA also helps create programs that support public safety, education, health, housing, jobs, and economic opportunities for AAPI residents and businesses in DC. 2. Mayor’s Office on Caribbean Community Affairs (MOCCA) () supports and empowers DC’s Caribbean community by connecting residents to government resources, services, and programs. They work with District leaders to address community needs and advocate for better access to housing, health care, education, jobs, public safety, social services, and business opportunities for its Caribbean residents in DC. 3. The Mayor’s Office on Latino Affairs (MOLA) () supports DC’s Latino community by connecting residents to important programs, services, and resources across all eight wards. 📝💼 Thank you to LocktonCARES () for hosting a career prep workshop for our students last week!

During the event, students learned new ways to improve their resumes and practiced interview skills through mock interviews. They also explored networking tips to help them feel more confident about their future careers. Thank you so much for the time, support, and guidance you shared with our students! 🤝

Missed this event? No worries! Join us on Friday, June 5th for our next career related workshop: Deloitte Career Skills Day from 11am-1pm! This event will be in-person and lunch will be included. Registration for WEC’s summer term opened 2 weeks ago and there’s just 1 day left to benefit from our early bird discount! If you register and pay by 11:59pm tomorrow (5/22), you can get $20 off group classes. Afterwards, the regular pricing for summer group classes will be $120.
