NDU Celebrates the U.S.

From our colleagues at NDU and CISA, registration for ACES 2026 in Seoul has closed and alumni gather in just three weeks under the theme Enduring Partnerships and Shared Strength. Excited to see this global network of alumni continue strengthening national security together.

NDU’s education doesn’t end when students graduate. Each year, alumni return from around the world to participate in the Alumni Continuing Education Seminar (ACES). They hear from experts and share their experiences, and their discussions improve U.S. national security and that of our partners and allies.

This year’s theme of Enduring Partnerships | Shared Strength will include plenary sessions on:

✔ Strengthening Ourselves, Strengthening Each Other: Building Shared Strategic Capacity for Security and Resilience: At the center of this discussion is a guiding question: How can allies and partners build the capabilities that make coalitions faster, smarter, and more resilient in a rapidly evolving and contested environment?

✔ Resourcing Security: This panel will examine key obstacles facing the defense industrial base and explore practical approaches to strengthening security cooperation and national security resourcing.

✔ The Future of Irregular Warfare: This panel examines the future of irregular warfare through three interrelated dilemmas that will define the character of conflict in the years ahead: the transformation of information and influence operations, the convergence of criminal, political, and insurgent networks, and the enduring evolution of insurgency and counterinsurgency across contested environments.

✔ A Revolution in Military Affairs, and Impacts on the Joint Force: The panel will explore if an RMA has occurred or is occurring amongst participants and interested parties in recent and ongoing conflicts.

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Caine Will Speak at NDU on August 18 🏛️⚡

We are pleased to announce the upcoming August 18 President’s Lecture Series, featuring General Dan Caine, USAF, the 22nd Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. General Caine will address the NDU community in Lincoln Hall Auditorium, reaching students, faculty, and staff across the University, from Fort McNair Campus, to the Joint Forces Staff College, National Intelligence College, and Joint Special Operations Master’s Program.

As the nation’s highest-ranking military officer, and the principal military advisor to the President, the Secretary of War, and the National Security Council, General Caine will provide strategic insights for Academic Year 2026–2027, focusing on the evolving character of warfare and the need for effective joint integration.

Events such as the President's Lecture Series prepare our graduates to generate strategic warfighting advantage for the Nation.

Fort McNair welcomed a new class of students last week.

On August 4, the National Defense University came together in Lincoln Hall for Convocation, marking the start of Academic Year 2026-2027 in NDU's 50th Anniversary year.

NDU President Vice Admiral Peter A. Garvin spoke to University students, faculty, and staff and emphasized that: "For half a century, NDU has educated generations of military officers, civilian leaders, and international partners who have helped preserve peace, respond in crisis, and win our nation's wars. Now it is your turn to join that legacy."

Across every college, the mission is the same. NDU educates leaders to generate strategic warfighting advantage for the Nation.

NDU Foundation proudly welcomes the Class of 2027. The legacy continues with you.

The NDU Summer Fest brought the University community together at Fort McNair on July 16 for an afternoon of connection, laughter, a little friendly competition, and an opportunity to focus on preparations for the start of the new academic year. The event celebrated the hard work of faculty, staff, and students, as well as the support of their families, all of whom are valued members of the NDU community. This year marked the first time that members of the faculty and staff at the National Intelligence College jointed Summer Fest as the newest members of the NDU family.

NDU Foundation was glad to be part of the fun. Here is to the people who make this community what it is.
