Charting a fundamentally different course in urban education! region. Students attend WJA for 11 hours a day, 11 months of the year.

Washington Jesuit Academy is a private, all-boys, tuition-free Catholic school educating students from underserved neighborhoods in the greater D.C. They are served 3 nutritious meals daily, and benefit from the services of two full-time social workers as well as two full-time learning specialists. Various clubs and sports are offered to students throughout the year. The mission of the Washington

Jesuit Academy is to provide a high quality and comprehensive education to boys from low-income communities, offering them a safe, rigorous academic setting and advancing their spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and physical growth. Since 2002, the guiding vision of the Washington Jesuit Academy has been to create an education model that addresses the cycle of poverty that plagues our students’ communities and replaces it with a cycle of hope, determination, and success. In order to challenge the city’s widening achievement gap and bleak graduation statistics for underserved males, WJA incorporates the Magis (“the more”) and asks the important question:

What more can we do for our students, our families, and our community to change the face of urban education? We instill in our students the confidence to find “the more” in themselves, giving them the necessary tools of moral character and compassion. Through the principles of a WJA education, students become open to growth, academically focused, spiritual, loving, and committed to justice. We believe that every student will learn to lead a purpose-driven life as a member of their community, becoming a reflective, action-oriented citizen whose focus will be on improving the lives of those most in need.

As we close out 2025, we’re taking time to reflect on something truly extraordinary: our donors, champions, and believers in the promise of every young man we serve at Washington Jesuit Academy.

This season is about gratitude… and opportunity.

We are humbled to share that the Alice + Eugene Ford Foundation has pledged $20,000 to match gifts made to WJA’s Impact Fund before December 31, 2025 -- meaning your support will go twice as far for our students and alumni. Every dollar becomes two. Every act of generosity multiplies. Every gift carries another young man further.

This morning our 4th graders welcomed Washington Jesuit Academy’s Auxiliary Board with wide smiles and brave hands raised to share their voices. In reading, students regularly read poetry as a way to improve reading fluency – today the boys shared some winter poems with our guests. Over breakfast, something powerful happened - students and young professionals connected, laughed, and reminded one another what belief looks like in action.

Our Auxiliary Board is made up of tomorrow’s philanthropists - young leaders who invest their time and resources to lift up our boys and spread WJA’s mission. Today, they gave our students something even greater than a meal: they gave the gift of being seen, heard, and believed in.

This is how tomorrow’s leaders are nurtured — one moment of belief at a time.

Tristan was October's Caleb Cares HERO AWARD recipient in recognition of his outstanding compassion, empathy, and dedication to helping others. He has consistently demonstrated what it means to lead with kindness and shows genuine care in everything he does. Tristan's willingness to learn from challenges has made him a role model for others, showing that kindness and perseverance go hand in hand.
