It was an honor to host the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the passing of President Franklin D Roosevelt today at the FDR Memorial in DC. Thank you to for sponsoring the event, and to Dr James Benton for his words about FDR’s legacy. Many of you have heard the story of my dad but today on his birthday it bears repeating. Raised in poverty in Brooklyn with a mother who didn’t go past 6th grade and to father who died young, my dad entered the Navy at age 14 during WW2. As he explained, he got a fed three times a day and was given a pair of Florsheim shoes. That says a lot about what he was coming from. He joined the after the war and stayed 45 years rising to high levels of management and helping the company during some of its toughest times in 1970s and 80s. He loved a good joke, loved to sing and loved his family and he was loved! Always missing you Dad!
