A year and a half after Humane World for Animals helped rescue more than 330 animals from Grand River Fur Exchange in Ashtabula County, Ohio, a bill has been introduced that would create stricter oversight for commercial facilities that breed fur-bearing animals.

We hope this legislation will give state authorities the power to prevent this type of animal suffering in the future.

COLUMBUS - Ohio lawmakers have introduced new legislation in response to an animal welfare crisis discovered last year, just 11 miles north of the Trumbull County line.

Comedian Ricky Gervais, a longtime supporter of the Fur Free Britain campaign, says: “We banned fur farming in the UK because we decided it was morally wrong. But the animals being brutalised in the name of fashion don't care if they're suffering in Britain, the EU or China—they just want the cruelty to stop. If fur farming is morally wrong here, it's morally wrong everywhere, so the UK should ban importing fur full stop.”

Bio-based faux fur is the future and the technology is here! That is not only good news for animals but the planet too. 🦊❤️🌎❤️

The French faux-fur specialist is entering a new phase. Having offered synthetic and then partially plant-based options, Ecopel is rolling out a 100% bio-based alternative that will ultimately make up its entire range.

A new investigation shines a spotlight inside five fur farms in northern China, sparking renewed calls for an end to fur imports around the world.

Every wild impulse these animals have to run, swim, nest and dig is thwarted again and again, causing chronic stress. Many of them repeatedly pace or bob their heads, both signs of psychological distress. Essentially, they spend their short lives going crazy before being electrocuted or bludgeoned to death.

Until the systems that profit from tormenting and killing animals no longer exist, we will keep exposing unthinkably cruel realities. That’s why we are releasing another investigation exposing fur farms, this time in China, the biggest fur-producing country in the world. Our new exposé, following...

A newly released undercover investigation from Fur Free Alliance member ARDE shines a spotlight on the horrible conditions inside a mink fur farm in Galicia, Spain, where animals were found living among corpses, excrement, and severe untreated injuries.

The findings add to the growing body of evidence highlighting serious animal welfare problems in fur production and reinforce calls for an EU-wide ban, currently under consideration by the European Commission in response to the Fur Free Europe citizens’ initiative.

According to a former chief executive for the British Fur Trade, "If it is morally and legally wrong to keep, say, a dog caged for its entire life, why is it ok for a fox? A raccoon dog? A mink or chinchilla? By any measure of social and political ethics, this is inconsistent and hypocritical."

"Later, when they asked if I would support the campaign to abolish the fur trade I readily agreed."

For over 10 years I spent my professional life promoting and defending the fur trade. As director of standards for the International Fur Federation, I oversaw compliance with international and national welfare regulations and industry standards. I was also chief executive for the British Fur Trade.

"But we know that animals like mink can contract respiratory viruses from humans, whether we’re talking about certain types of coronavirus strains or even some types of flu virus strains. They can contract those viruses, incubate them, allowing them to mutate, and then pass them back to people. This is a huge risk. And again, the point is that this is an industry in decline that is not used to keep people alive. It’s really just to support luxury demand."

“[The]cruel irony here [is] that the world cannot get its act together to address these threats … people are dying, animals are suffering, we’re losing rainforest … these are all interconnected threats,” Neil Vora tells me on this week’s episode of the Mongabay Newscast, just a day after...
