Georgetown’s board of directors has unanimously voted to name Eduardo M. Peñalver J.D., as the 49th president of Georgetown University.

He will begin his new role on July 1, 2026.

Peñalver has served as the 22nd president of Seattle University, a Catholic, Jesuit institution, since 2021. Read more on Peñalver and his journey to Georgetown at the link in our bio.

On September 25th-27th, the Board of Governors gathered on the Hilltop for their annual Fall Leadership Weekend. Over two and a half days, they conducted a Fall Leadership Summit, honored Club Awards at the annual Golden Jacks, and conducted many committee meetings to serve the Alumni Association. It was a weekend full of work and play. Cheers to all of the good work our Governors put in to serve the amazing Alumni of Georgetown University.

Dr. Jennifer Natalya Fink is the co-founder, former director, and current core faculty in Georgetown's Program in Disability Studies. Dr. Fink is also the author of seven award-winning books, including All Our Families: Disability Lineage and the Future of Kinship (Beacon: 2022). She has written about disability lineage and neurodiversity for the New York Times, the Atlantic, Teen Vogue, and many other mainstream press venues. 🗞 📰
