It's Juneteenth, it's Pride Month, and it's Shabbat. Today, join us in marking all three by celebrating Tiziana Friedman — a Black, q***r, Jewish community builder, and a powerful voice for belonging.

In Judaism, Tiziana found a framework for remembering painful pasts while working toward a better future, and she wasted no time building the Jewish spaces she wanted to exist in. From co-founding an Albuquerque Moishe Pod to launching JOC Joy, a program creating space for Jews of Color within Moishe House, Tiziana turned her values into action by making room at the table for those who have too often been told they don't belong there.

As we welcome Shabbat, may we be inspired by Tiziana's vision, her courage, and her reminder that every time one of us pushes for more diversity and openness, the table gets a little bigger for everyone. Shabbat Shalom!

On June 19, 1865, enslaved people in Texas finally learned what had been true for two and a half years: they were free. The delay was not an accident. It was deliberate. Juneteenth is a celebration of that freedom and a reminder that freedom deferred is freedom denied.

At NCJW, we believe the work of justice is never finished. Today, we honor the resilience and joy of African Americans — and we recommit to the work of justice for all.

What happens when a court ruling overnight puts dozens of families' IVF treatments at risk? You mobilize. Fast.

This week, we're recognizing the Jewish Fertility Foundation — an organization that stepped in immediately when the Alabama Supreme Court's 2024 IVF ruling suddenly left families mid-treatment with nowhere to turn. Thanks to a $15,000 emergency grant from the Jewish Fund for Abortion Access, those families could continue their care. One of them welcomed their daughter, Fia, in March 2025. Swipe through to read the full story 👉️ then learn more about the Jewish Fund and the work we do to protect reproductive rights at ncjw.org/jewish-fund-about.

Over the next few weeks, we'll continue to shine a spotlight on grantees of our Jewish Fund for Abortion Access — NCJW's engine to provide direct, real-time funding to those who need it most. We fund abortion care and contraception, fertility care and prenatal services, doula support and more. Our grants are fueling practical support for patients, helping sustain the broader patchwork of care that meets the full spectrum of urgent needs.

A year ago today, the Supreme Court let Tennessee ban gender-affirming care for trans kids with its decision in US v. Skrmetti. Here's what we knew then, and what we still believe:

🩵 All kids deserve access to the health care they need.
🩷 God loves trans kids.
🤍 And we'll keep fighting for our trans siblings.

LGBTQ+ Equal Pay Day is a reminder that the wage gap doesn't happen by accident. Discrimination in hiring, promotions, and the workplace continues to undermine the economic security of LGBTQ+ people.

Equal pay means little if people can't access jobs, advance in their careers, or work free from discrimination. We need workplaces where everyone has a fair chance not just to survive, but to thrive.

The Trump administration’s illegal plans to move the Office for Civil Rights and the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services out of the Department of Education is a direct attack on our most vulnerable students.

Scattering these departments’ critical functions across multiple agencies will decimate their ability to protect students, jeopardizing the civil rights of and equal access to education for millions of kids.

Every time the Department of Education has had the opportunity to serve students and protect the rights of the children most at risk, it has chosen to do the exact opposite. For years, NCJW has fought to protect and expand the critical work of these offices, and we won’t stop now.

We demand that Congress move immediately to protect the 50 million children whose rights and futures are on the line.

Hate is dangerous. Full stop. But when a gun is added into the picture, hate can become deadly.

As antisemitism and hate crimes of marginalized communities continue to rise, NCJW stands firm against all forms of hate-fueled violence. Because protecting every neighbor from violence isn't a political position, it's a Jewish value. 🧡

NCJW's Darcy Hirsh and Michael Lieberman were among the leaders driving conversation at the Jewish Council for Public Affairs 2026 Summit.

On the reproductive rights and LGBTQ+ justice front, Darcy and Keshet's Lanie Cohen connected faith, religious freedom, and bodily autonomy, making the case for why Jewish values are at the heart of this advocacy.

And on the civil rights front, Michael joined legal experts and advocates to explain what federal civil rights protections have been lost and promote ideas about how communities can restore rights and push for meaningful change at the state and federal level.

We're proud to have NCJW voices leading these conversations and even more grateful for what happens when folks leave the room ready to act.

It was only six years ago that the Supreme Court ruled in Bostock v. Clayton County that employees can't be fired just because they're part of the LGBTQ+ community.

Today, LGBTQ+ people continue to face rampant discrimination. As Jews, our belief in kavod habriyot — the dignity of all people — underscores our commitment to passing laws to ensure no one is discriminated against based on who they are or who they love.

It's time to make Bostock's protections permanent and pass legislation to protect LGBTQ+ people now.

Happy World Cup season! Today we're celebrating the one and only World Cup queen, Shakira. ⚽️ ⭐️

The Colombian superstar has been the soundtrack of the global tournament for 20 years. With her latest track “Dai Dai," she's uniting billions of fans across every border, language, and culture, and reminding them all what they're capable of.

Shakira has always been more than just her dance moves: she's a fierce, unapologetic champion for women everywhere. From her Billboard Latin Woman of the Year speech reminding us that we are stronger, braver, and more independent than we were taught to be, to lyrics born from heartbreak and forged into battle cries, she has spent her entire career proving that women's voices belong front and center.

As we welcome Shabbat, may we be inspired to turn pain into platinum, because every she wolf knows her worth. Shabbat Shalom!
