Please ACT NOW to oppose this upcoming bill that would threaten the important work of many nonprofits with no due process.

The House is voting on H.R. 9495 today, the Stop Terror-Financing and Tax Penalties on American Hostages Act. Among many things, this legislation would grant the Dept. of Treasury the ability to terminate the tax-exempt status of nonprofits that it designates as “terrorist supporting organizations” without any reasoning or evidence. The bill is vague in its language, and would provide the executive branch a powerful weapon to wield against nonprofits such as the ACLU, Human Rights Campaign, the AHA, and many others.
