For nearly two decades, CSF-DC has walked alongside students in Wards 7 and 8 in Washington, DC, supporting them as they pursue higher education and build brighter futures. This year, we honor not just what they have achieved, but who they are becoming.

This week, we're shining a spotlight on our incredible board member, Richard Hahn, and Allied Marketing, whose vision and dedication helped bring our Scholar Spotlight Celebration & inaugural BBQ Cook-Off to life.

From the very first time he met our students, Richard has been intentional about building meaningful relationships and finding ways to stay closely connected to our scholars. Whether through school visits, roundtable discussions, or simply showing up to listen and encourage, he has consistently demonstrated his commitment to their success.

What our community experienced this past Saturday was the culmination of that commitment, a celebration built on collaboration, mentorship, and a deep belief in the potential of every scholar we serve.

Richard's leadership, creativity, and unwavering support helped create more than an event; they created an experience filled with joy, connection, and memories that will last a lifetime.

We are deeply grateful for Richard's vision, his countless efforts behind the scenes, and most importantly, the genuine care he shows our scholars each and every day.

What an incredible day at our Scholar Spotlight Celebration and inaugural BBQ Cook-Off!

From celebrating our scholars and their accomplishments to bringing our community together through mentorship, competition, and connection, the day was filled with joy, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

And our students did not disappoint on the grill! Under the guidance of some amazing pitmasters, they soaked up every lesson, embraced the experience, and showed off their skills with pride. Their enthusiasm, teamwork, and willingness to learn made the competition even more special.

Congratulations to Dayoun Whitaker, who, alongside Hat Creek Q, earned the first-place prize in the student competition!

A huge congratulations to Bobby Oliver and James Dodson of Twisted Oliver, who captured first place among the professional pitmasters. Their championship-winning performance earned the #1 America 250 Edition Gateway Drum created by Ryan and Gateway Drum Smokers.

A heartfelt thank you to all of our incredible pitmasters who generously shared their knowledge and made this cook-off truly special. Their mentorship gave our scholars the opportunity to learn from some of the best, and our students embraced every moment, soaking in the lessons and bringing their own passion and talent to the grill.

Special thanks to our sponsors, whose generosity made this celebration possible and ensured our scholars received meaningful support as they prepare for their college journeys.

🔥 Meet the Pitmaster: Robert Perkins 🔥

We're excited to welcome Robert Perkins, owner of P&L Steaks Grilling Supply, to this Saturday's Scholar Spotlight & BBQ Cook-Off!

A seasoned BBQ competitor since 2016, Robert has competed in top events across the country, including Memphis in May, where he earned 1st Place in Patio Ribs. Through P&L Steaks, he shares his passion for grilling with award-winning seasonings, marinades, and products for cooks of all skill levels.

Robert believes great food brings people together, and we can't wait to see him team up with our scholars for a day of food, fun, and friendly competition!
