20 Homes to Fill. 1 Month to Do It.

For Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we are on a mission to fully supply 20 apartments for survivors starting fresh.

A safe home is more than four walls—it’s bed sheets, kitchen supplies, and a fresh start. Every item donated goes directly toward turning empty apartments into secure sanctuaries.

A milestone like House of Ruth’s 50th Anniversary Homecoming Celebration deserved an extraordinary voice to guide the evening—and we could not have asked for a better emcee on stage than WUSA9’s very own Lesli Foster!

As one of Washington, D.C.’s most trusted journalists and advocates, Lesli brought warmth, grace, and heartfelt passion to our celebration. Through participant graduate testimonials, our 50th film, and Beacon of Hope awards, she guided our guests through 50 years of legacy while also looking forward to our next chapter.

Lesli, thank you for sharing your light and your dedication to our community. You made an unforgettable milestone truly magical!

Celebrate good times—come on!

And celebrate we did.

50 years of impact. Thousands of lives transformed.

On Saturday, October 3, the House of Ruth community came together for an event unlike any other—our 50th Anniversary Homecoming Celebration of Hope & Healing!

Walking the blue carpet into the National Housing Center, guests were invited to connect with our mission through interactive experiences led by House of Ruth staff.

🔵Writing messages of encouragement for survivors on our Wall of Hope
🔵Recording their House of Ruth memories in our Story Booth
🔵Building their dream homes
🔵Creating empowerment touchstones

Through participant graduate testimonials, our 50th film, and Beacon of Hope awards, our emcee WUSA9 anchor Lesli Foster guided our guests through 50 years of legacy while also looking forward to our next chapter.

And of course, no homecoming would be complete without a celebration on the dance floor! The Exclusives closed out the night with an incredible performance that had everyone on their feet.

Thank you for being part of our story and for making this night one we’ll never forget!

Last Saturday, hundreds of staff, donors, and community partners gathered for House of Ruth's 50th Anniversary Homecoming Celebration of Hope & Healing. Throughout the evening, we connected with each other and with the mission of House of Ruth.

We wish each and every one of you could have been there. As a collective community, you have invested not only in empowering women and families today but also into the future.

That evening and every day, we honor the extraordinary courage of the individuals who have walked through those doors—the survivors who rebuilt their lives, and the dedicated staff and donors who have stood alongside them every step of the way.

We hope you enjoy our 50th Anniversary film—a tribute to the history, the people, and the future of House of Ruth. https://youtu.be/23asJnMo-Jc

Standing with survivors starts with one simple choice: moving from awareness to action. đź’ś

This Domestic Violence Awareness Month ( ), House of Ruth reminds our community that no survivor should have to rebuild their life alone.

Safe housing, trauma-informed counseling, and child care don't just happen—they are built together through community support.

Holding space for survivors means showing up with tangible support. If you’ve wanted to get involved but weren't sure where to begin, check out this booklet.https://houseofruth.org/wp-content/uploads/DVAM-Guide-Booklet-2026.pdf
