Washington Tennis & Education Foundation WTEF builds life champions. We give children and youth a safe environment they trust, where they can excel.

WTEF's mission is to empower underserved children in Washington DC by offering a pathway of continual academic support, life skills, and tennis instruction during after-school and summer camp hours. We empower them to achieve their highest potential by developing meaningful values and critical skills that lead them to life-long success.

Tennis demands as much from your mind as it does from your body. Amanda knows that, and it’s exactly why she brought her daughter to WTEF. She wants her daughter to develop her game, but more than that, she wants her to develop the mental toughness and resilience that will serve her long after she leaves the court.

WTEF is the environment where all of that comes together. Our students learn to compete, to push through difficulty, to focus under pressure, and to show up for themselves and their teammates every day. 🎾

What an incredible night! Thank you to Trustar Bank and Trustar Youth Foundation for hosting Casino Night 2026 at Westwood Country Club and naming WTEF as one of this year's beneficiaries. We were so honored to be part of an evening of glamor and giving back, surrounded by a community that showed up in full force for our student athletes. Nights like this remind us how big our village really is, and how many people stand ready to invest in our students' journey to becoming life champions. Thank you, Trustar, and thank you to everyone in the room.

For students in our tuition-free programs, back-to-school readiness goes beyond typical school day supplies. Becoming a life champion also requires resources that make essential afterschool athletics and enrichment possible. This fall, we’re thrilled to launch a new back-to-school drive with Edward Jones, designed to equip students in WTEF’s tuition-free programs for a great year in and out of the classroom.

We’ll be collecting backpacks and tennis bags for up to 100+ youth–along with in-demand materials to fill them with–between Monday, September 28 and Friday, October 9. Join us! Check out our back-to-school shopping list (https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3J0QOHK36QX6B?ref_=wl_share) for instructions, easy-to-grab priority items, and the many regional dropoff locations where you can meet the team behind this collaboration.

WTEF is proud to share our newest strategic plan, a five-year roadmap for building even more life champions on and off the court. This plan sets three priorities: strengthening our programs and operations, growing our reach from the 700+ students we serve today with our tuition-free programs to more than 1,000 across Wards 7 and 8, and deepening our partnership with the donors, advocates, and community members who make this work possible. Seventy years in, we are just getting started. We could not do any of this without a community like ours. We loved hosting the team from Genesis Motor America, along with 2026 WTEF Distinguished Service honoree and partner Kevin Reilly representing Alexandria Hyundai & Genesis of Alexandria, at our East Campus. During their visit, they got to see our programming in action and graciously presented WTEF with a celebratory sponsorship check.

Welcoming supporters onto our courts and into our classrooms to witness firsthand what our students are building every day is one of our favorite parts of this work. Thank you again to Genesis Motor America and Alexandria Hyundai & Genesis of Alexandria for your generous support of our 2026 Share the Love Gala and your commitment to our tuition-free programs!

Right now, every dollar you give goes twice as far thanks to our August match – but it ends Monday! Every new, returning, or increased donation made through our GoFundMe will be matched 1:1, whether you donate directly, or create an online fundraiser with friends and family. Your gift helps us support our alumni heading off to college. It helps us hire and train new staff to serve our tuition-free program sites. And it helps us ensure our students have the right tennis and educational supplies this school year. Don’t miss your chance to give back as we go back to school, and have your donation go even further! Donate now: https://support.wtef.org/campaign/wtef-summer-champions/c803498
