Friends,
Beginning today, your donation of up to $1,000 USD per donor to support Bamyan Foundation's fundraiser 👇will be matched 100% by the generosity of GlobalGiving's Safer World Matching Campaign. The funds raised will support our underground schools for girls in Afghanistan during the next academic year. Safer World Fund was created by a group of family and friends who lost loved ones during the September 11 terrorist attacks. Girls must not be denied an education. Please support Bamyan Foundation's fundraiser to support girl's education at a remote village in Afghanistan. Donations ($100 - $1000) will be matched by GlobalGiving while matching funds remain.

In Afghanistan, behind closed doors and silent walls, girls over sixth grade are being denied the right to learn, to dream, and to shape their own futures. Since the return of the Taliban regime, access to education for girls has been severely restricted, especially beyond primary school. What was o...

Our Bamyan Foundation colleague and community member Zareen Taj is helping organize a series of workshops in January for women to equip them with critical digital literacy & storytelling skills to voice their unique narratives and stories. Hazara women face higher risks and vulnerability in Afghanistan due to the intersectional factors of gender, race and religion. While all Afghans go through an incredibly difficult time in Afghanistan today, the unique narratives of Hazara women must not be subsumed with the broader and mainstream stories from Afghanistan.
Please consider supporting this crucial initiative. Donations will be matched 50% by GlobalGiving while matching funds remain.

Hazara Women of Afghanistan Share Digital Stories is a groundbreaking hybrid digital empowerment program for refugees/evacuees in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area and Malmö, Sweden. Launching in January 2025, it provides Hazara women with digital literacy and storytelling skills, fostering col...

Congratulations to our former student Nila Ibrahimi, who was awarded the International Children’s Peace Prize recently! Nila has been a vocal advocate for Afghan women and girls, and has founded Her Story along with her brother Murtaza to provide a voice for other girls from Afghanistan.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters and creativity of our educators and community leaders on the ground, Bamyan Foundation continues to make education accessible for girls in Afghanistan. Even after Taliban's ban, we were among the first organizations to find a way to provide quality education for girls through our underground schools and especially designed programs.

Nila winning the prestigious award and singing her powerful protest song "Boro bakhair ba maktab" , at the award ceremony brings an enormous amount of joy and meaning to our work at the Foundation.

17-year-old Nila Ibrahimi has won the International Children’s Peace Prize for her work in advocating for Afghan girls
