Signal is leaving Canada. Windscribe is moving its headquarters. Apple and Meta are sounding the alarm.
Not because of the market. Because of a law that threatens to break encryption for everyone!
They're not. Bill C-22 would force companies to retain Canadians' metadata for up to one year and break encryption for everyone in the process. There is no way to open a backdoor for the government without opening it for bad actors too.
This bill cannot be fixed. It must be scrapped.
