Join us next Wednesday, October 28, from 4-8 p.m. at Alethia Tanner Park for an evening of fall fun! Pick out your perfect pumpkin at our pumpkin patch, catch a screening of Minions & Monsters at 6:30 p.m., and enjoy even more seasonal surprises!

Meet NoMa’s newest heroes! 🦸‍♀️🦸🦸‍♂️

Last but certainly not least, our NoMa in Color mural spotlight series wraps up with Jeff Huntington aka JAHRU “Altered Egos.”

This mural features three portraits, two of Jahru’s nieces and one of his nephews, reimagined as superheroes, superimposed over a background of geometric shapes. Women into fractal radiating from the center, his intent was to create an outward dynamic flow of energy depicting power and strength. It is an homage to many young individuals who face crippling self-doubt in a time of great uncertainty, reframing personal struggle not as weakness, but as a call to adventure in their own classic “Hero’s Journey.”

Two scenes, one neighborhood, and plenty of details to discover! 🔎🎨

Up next on our NoMa in Color mural spotlight series is Davide Prete with University of the District of Columbia | UDC art students “Side by Side.”

This is a collaborative mural created by University of DC (UDC) art students, under the guidance of professor and local artist Davide Prete. They designed it as a “Spot the Differences” game. Two scenes—past and present —invite viewers to compare, play, and reflect on neighborhood change.✨

A little sweetness under the sea! 🪼🍬

We’re continuing our NoMa in Color mural spotlight with Patrick Owens “Jelliedfish.”

This experienced local mural artist chose to portray a vibrant giant jellyfish that is cleverly made up of various nostalgic desserts & candy like Jello, sour strips, and beautiful twirlers, all floating underwater with other candied creatures. A whimsical mural centered on candy and treats is a natural fit for a park setting, where gatherings are part of the experience. The imagery of sweets and shared indulgences taps into universal emotions, evoking the simple pleasures of celebration days and community.

A tribute to the beat of the District. 🎶

Our NoMa in Color mural spotlight continues with The Sdewdios “Street Performer.”

This mural was created by Astro the Artist who has focused until now only on spray painting. It vibrantly depicts a man drumming on pots and pans, buckets, and cones creating a Go Go beat that fills the NoMa area with the authentic sounds of DC. 🥁✨

Two artists, one colorful journey! 🎨🌈

Our NoMa in Color mural spotlight series continues with Heather Jones Jaswant Pakki “All Roads Lead to NoMa.”

This collaboration showcases the work of two established DC artists who had never painted an outdoor mural before. Miniature figures travel by foot, bike, and balloon across bold, flowing terrain, all moving toward the same glowing center. The mural is a vibrant celebration of their shared artistic journeys and the idea that no matter the path, we all belong in NoMa.
