Have you registered?

We believe that youth can participate in conservation no matter where you come from, how much money you have access to, or how old you are.

How?
From now until June 22nd, register for with or without a donation, and your participation will be matched with $5 for conservation—enough to protect 500 square feet of Colombian Andes-Amazon rainforest!

It’s about time we introduced our resident canopy researcher . 🌟

Juan Lucas dreamed up the idea for last year and pitched it to our science committee for support getting it started. Based in Ecuador, he noticed a lack in opportunities to explore the forest and research the life that existed above our heads, and decided to do something about it. Since launching Trepatroncos on our expediiton last July, he’s been hosting workshops in Ecuador and Colombia, analysing camera traps, sharing his journey, and expanding the team—and this is only the start. 🪢

Couldn’t be prouder to support your vision coming to life ! 🌳

Catch up with —our first partners!

In the lowlands of Ecuador, we met with Janice Flores and Alicia Álvarez, who are leading ‘Project Vanilla Cloud Forest’, seeking to foster a change in intensive agricultural production areas.

As well as being a conservation initiative, this project highlights the importance and relevance of women’s skills and strengthening their capacity. Harvesting vanilla requires daily watering, fertilizing and pollination of the flowers by hand, and montly pruning. The result? Fragrant, flavorful, fermented vanilla that requires only two greenhouses, allowing biodiversity to thrive around it.

Heads up, Austin! Don't miss Films for the Forest on May 1. Our friends at Rainforest Partnership always put on a good show, and we're glad to help spread the word!

Looking for something meaningful to do in Austin this May 1?

Join us at The Rosette for Films for the Forest — an unforgettable night of environmental storytelling, community, and action 🌎

This year’s event is extra special as we celebrate the renewal of our partnership with Reserva: The Youth Land Trust — a global network of young leaders working to protect biodiversity and empower the next generation of conservationists.

Together, we’re combining storytelling + youth action to inspire real-world impact.

This one-night event will feature a curated selection of powerful short films that explore:
🌳 Forest conservation & biodiversity
🤝 Indigenous and local community perspectives
🌎 Climate challenges & solutions
✨ Hopeful pathways toward restoration

This is more than a film screening — it’s a space to connect, reflect, and be inspired by the power of storytelling and youth-led action.

A few words and first impressions from youth at ! 🌟

This year’s IPBES takes on a systemic risk: business.

All businesses have an impact on nature in one way or another, therefore making data and knowledge available to businesses is vital for them to be able to better understand risks and opportunities as they work towards their sustainablility goals.

Although this comes with many challenges, we are grateful to be a part of the youth presence here, and bring our ambition to the conversations!

Expanding our conservation family and spending time with so many people interested in using science to protect biodiversity is the best thing about attending .

High five! 🫂

5 fun facts and a painting with Reserva youth council member ! 🐒

“I wanted to paint this species because it’s critically endangered, and I wanted to use my art to bring visibility to a species that many others have never heard of” 👏

Art is a fantastic way to emotionally inspire conservation action, and raise awareness for at-risk species, such as the Caquetá t**i monkey. 🎨

Through youth-led action, and collaboration with our local partners , we are protecting this monkey’s home before it is too late—link in bio! 🌳

In this field, joy and grief are constant companions. We experience some of earth’s healthiest ecosystems, and on the same day, we see them being lost forever. But landowners cutting their forest are *not* the problem; the problem is systemic and global, and that can make conservation feel like an uphill battle.
By focusing on local solutions rooted in empathy and community leadership, we can save the most threatened species and habitats while also recognizing the needs of local communities.
Our project with local partners is not just about creating a reserve, but also includes alternative livelihood development, community biodiversity education, a monitoring framework to assess how this project impacts the lives of the people around it, and more.

What is that? A Miller’s saki (Pithecia milleri)!

⁉️ This inquisitive investigator is a vulnerable species—one of many captured in our ongoing canopy study.

🐒 When encountering a potential predator or threat, their long hair allows them to appear larger and intimidating—known as ‘piloerection’.

🚨We need your help to protect this habitat. We just launched a new, youth-led project to create a protected area corridor in Piamonte, Cauca, Colombia with our collaborators , and you can help by joining us as a fundraiser or simply making a donation!

Just $5 protects habitat the size of a one-bedroom apartment. Nobody is too small to make a difference.
