Fonkoze empowers Haitians, primarily rural women, with the tools needed to break the cycle of poverty

The Fonkoze Family is composed of the following three organizations:

Fonkoze USA: is an American 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to securing financial and technical support for its Haitian partners. It educates the American public about Fonkoze’s work in Haiti, facilitates technical assistance for the two Haitian entities, and raises money to support Fonkoze’s programs, including educati

on, business training, and health services. Fonkoze USA also acts as a channel for socially responsible investors who want to “invest” in Fonkoze’s loan fund by lending their money at subsidized interest rates. Fonkoze USA gives American donors access to tax advantages available to the fullest extent allowed, and conducts the necessary due diligence on Fonkoze’s operations. Sèvis Finansye Fonkoze (SFF): is an empowering financial institution that offers a full range of financial services in Fonkoze’s branches throughout Haiti. These services include microfinance, savings, foreign exchange, domestic money transfers, international remittances, insurance, call center and other financial services. Fondasyon Kole Zepòl (Fonkoze Foundation): is a Haitian nonprofit institution that provides development services and programs to support the ultra-poor and Fonkoze’s microfinance clients with the resources and skills they need to overcome obstacles and become successful on their climb up Fonkoze’s Staircase Out of Poverty. Its services include adult education, preventative and promotional health care, and business skills training. Fonkoze also conducts Social Impact Monitoring in order to measure Fonkoze’s impact on clients’ lives and uses that data to further innovate on behalf of Fonkoze clients, testing new programs and products including financial products for youth. These development innovations have been internationally recognized by the European Microfinance Award and Philanthropedia, among others. Together, these organizations form the institution known as Fonkoze, providing a comprehensive approach to poverty alleviation to thousands of families throughout Haiti.

This month, Fonkoze Foundation officially launched a new initiative in partnership with Fondation CHANEL, bringing together our three core areas of work—poverty reduction, health, and education—to support women and their families through a more integrated approach.

The launch brought together local leaders and Fonkoze staff to share the vision, build relationships, and prepare for the work ahead.

Real change begins long before the first training or home visit. It begins with listening, planning, and standing shoulder to shoulder with communities as they shape their own future.

We look forward to sharing the stories and impact that emerge in the months ahead.

Health is one of the strongest investments we can make in a family's future.

Across rural Haiti, Fonkoze's community health teams are bringing prevention and care directly to the people who need it most. By identifying health concerns early and connecting families with timely support, we help children grow healthier and adults manage chronic conditions before they become life-threatening.

In 2025:
• 9,231 children were screened for malnutrition.
• 268 malnourished children received care.
• 11,211 people were screened for hypertension.

Healthy families are the foundation of thriving communities, and every screening is an opportunity to improve lives.

Through Chemen Lavi Miyò, women living in ultra-poverty are accompanied with coaching, livelihood support, savings, health education, and the tools to make decisions for their families’ futures.

This is what partnership makes possible: not simply meeting urgent needs, but walking alongside women as they build stability, dignity, and new beginnings.

This week, during a Parents' Club session, Fonkoze nurses led Ti Korin training, sharing practical guidance on child nutrition, health, and early childhood development. By equipping caregivers with knowledge, we're helping children grow healthier and families build stronger futures.

The Fonkoze approach is built around the many parts of life that help families move forward.

Through Poverty Reduction, women living in ultra-poverty build sustainable livelihoods through the Pathway to a Better Life program.

Through Health, locally led care brings prevention, education, and lifesaving screenings directly to underserved rural communities.

Through Education, EdTek provides digital learning that teaches essential life and financial skills.

Through Microfinance, Sèvis Finansye Fonkoze supports financial inclusion through access to savings, loans, and remittances.

Together, these programs meet women and families where they are — and walk alongside them as they build greater stability, opportunity, and independence.

Fonkoze’s 2025 Annual Report is now available.

This year’s theme, Fanm an Aksyon: Women in Action, honors the women whose daily movement sustains families, strengthens local markets, and carries communities forward across Haiti.

The report opens with a powerful preface by Haitian American author Tico Armand, who reminds us that women are not waiting to be empowered. They are already in motion — leading with purpose, intelligence, courage, and care.

Inside the report, you’ll see how Fonkoze’s work came to life in 2025 through poverty reduction, digital learning, health, and financial inclusion:

2,749 women graduated from CLM
3,746 people participated in digital learning
9,231 children were screened for malnutrition
Fonkoze Financial Services expanded access to loans, savings, and remittances for families and small businesses

In 2025, SFF disbursed 46,744 loans, processed more than 300,000 international remittances, and supported 186,000 savings clients.

When women move forward, entire communities move with them.
