The families who built the Peace Corps, the Kennedys, Shrivers and Johnsons, are now investing in making it permanent. But volunteers have always been the heart of this program, and Maria Shriver has a personal message for everyone who served and all those who share the values of global peace and partnership.

Watch her video, read the full story, and join the more than 2,000 donors building this lasting tribute in Washington, D.C.

Words matter, and when you're carving them into stone as a permanent tribute on a new national memorial like Peace Corps Park in Washington, D.C., you don't cut corners.

For Peace Corps Park, the process started with a MacArthur "Genius Grant" recipient making the trip to the fabricator to carve test letters directly into the complex curves of Silver Cloud granite — because you can't know how a surface will respond until you work it by hand. It continued this spring, when the full design team brought those carved samples outside into natural light, used a water bottle to see how they'd look in the rain, and tested different finishes side by side until the right answer began to reveal itself.

The words that will be inscribed on these benches carry the mission, the values, and the voices of a generation of Peace Corps volunteers and every local partner who has worked with them. They deserve the highest level of care, and so does every donor making it possible.

Read the full story at the link below, and if you've been thinking about making a gift, now is the moment. We're close to the green light on fabrication, but we can't get there without you. 🕊️

We just got back from the shop floor at Quarra Stone Company in Madison, Wis. and we had to share what we saw.

This is where Peace Corps Park is coming to life, in the hands of the most technically advanced stone fabricator in North America, and the work they're doing is extraordinary. Robotic precision mixed with old-fashioned hand finishing because a world-class mission deserves world-class ex*****on.

For every RPCV, every staff member, every community partner around the world who made the Peace Corps what it is: This is for you. And it's going to be stunning.

🎉We're delighted to celebrating not one but TWO milestones in the story of Peace Corps Park with our world-class community of supporters:

Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings, a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer from Eswatini (1983-85), has contributed $1 million to the campaign to build the country's first national federal memorial to the Peace Corps in Washington, D.C. It's the largest donation in the history of the Peace Corps Foundation, and it brings us to $8m raised of the $14m budget needed for the Park. Thank you Reed!

The same week, our team met in Wisconsin to review samples of the different elements of the Park produced by our fabrication partner, Quarra Stone Co. We got the green light for fabrication from our design team and are ready for phase 2. It can start as early as July, but we need to close the funding gap first.

Join the campaign and Build Peace with us! 🕊️

Former Ohio Governor Bob Taft has long been a champion of Peace Corps Park, from supporting the effort to secure congressional authorization for the project to his service on the Peace Corps Foundation's Advisory Board.

We were honored by his continued advocacy on behalf of the Park, most recently at a Peace Corps 65th Anniversary event at the University of Ohio with fellow RPCV (and Advisory Board member) Steve Driehaus.

65 years ago today, President Kennedy signed the Peace Corps into existence, challenging Americans to reach out to the world with an open hand rather than a closed fist. Almost 250,000 Americans have answered the call so far, serving in 142 countries and changing the world one community at a time.

That spirit of service and global partnership doesn't belong only in the history books. It belongs in our national story, carved in stone in our nation's capital, among the monuments that define who we are as a country.

Peace Corps Park will do exactly that. The site is secured. The granite is quarried. Construction has begun. But we need your help to close the final $7 million and bring this memorial to life.

On this anniversary, help us make sure the Peace Corps has a permanent home in Washington, D.C., and inspire future generations to dedicate themselves to service and cross-cultural partnership.

Support the Peace Corps Foundation by donating to build a park. Explore credit card, stock gifts, and more ways to contribute.

"In a dark space, all it takes is one ray of light to show the way out."

Historian Dr. Elizabeth Cobbs wasn't a Peace Corps volunteer, but she understands why this moment matters. Right now, with the dismantling of USAID, the Peace Corps is the only original Kennedy program still standing. This park will be a lasting symbol that a group of dedicated people cared so much about our nation's highest values that they memorialized them forever.

People from all over the world visit Washington, D.C. to see monuments to who we are and who we aspire to be. Peace Corps Park will show them we are proud of our efforts to make the world a better place for everyone. Cooperation in the name of peace is the oldest story in American history. Let's make sure it has a future.

This , you can help shape the very first elements of Peace Corps Park.

With granite now being quarried for the Park’s benches and world map centerpiece, we’re entering the first physical phase of construction and we need your support to ensure the fundraising keeps pace.

Your gift today helps fund the shaping and installation of these stone elements, the foundation of a national space honoring global peace and partnership.

If the Peace Corps has touched your life or someone you love, we invite you to help build the next piece of this tribute.

Today, we’re celebrating a milestone for Peace Corps Park, one we couldn’t have achieved without the mobilization of an entire community.

After years of planning — and with half of the funds raised — the first pieces of the Park are now entering construction. At quarries in Georgia and Virginia, the granite 🪨 that will make up the Park’s benches and centerpiece world map is being quarried, cut and prepared for the journey to Washington, D.C. (with a stop in Wisconsin along the way).

This Giving Tuesday, we extend our deepest gratitude to all of the supporters who have joined the effort to create a permanent symbol of our shared values of global peace 🕊️ and partnership 🤝 in our nation’s capital so far.

We’ll be sharing more detail on how you can help build the next elements of Peace Corps Park and invite everyone to be a part of making Peace Corps Park a reality.

We're thrilled to share a new video showing a bird's-eye view of the future site of Peace Corps Park just steps from the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.! We used Google Earth to fly over the National Mall to show you exactly where we will build this Congressionally authorized symbol of the core American values embodied by the Peace Corps of service and global partnership. Even private pilots like our very own Glenn Blumhorst can't get a view this good!

Check it out on our YouTube channel and see how Peace Corps Park will join the illustrious federal monuments telling our nation's story 🏛️✨.
