Congratulations to Green Schoolyards America, the inaugural recipient of the ASLA Fund Catalyst Award!

Founded by Sharon Gamson Danks, MLA-MCP, Green Schoolyards America is being recognized for its work turning asphalt-covered school grounds into nature-based learning environments that address urban heat, stormwater management, public health, and children’s connection to nature.

“Green Schoolyards America’s work is the definition of a catalyst. The organization has brought together design, education, and policy to demonstrate that nature-rich schoolyards are not a luxury, but a necessity for resilient communities.” — ASLA Fund Catalyst Award Advisory Council

The inaugural award will be presented at the ASLA Fund Founders Club Reception on September 17 in Los Angeles during the ASLA 2026 Conference on Landscape Architecture. https://www.aslaconference.com/
