📊 Antisemitism in Washington, D.C.: What the Numbers Tell Us

Each year, ADL tracks antisemitic harassment, vandalism and assault across the U.S. The latest data from our annual Audit of Antisemitic Incidents is here, and the numbers for Washington, D.C. and the DMV region tell an important story.

In 2025, antisemitic incidents in D.C. dropped 18%, from 151 to 124. Across the DMV, all three jurisdictions saw significant declines. Progress worth noting, but 464 incidents in one region reminds us: the work is far from over.

We are appreciative of leadership for responding quickly and taking this seriously. Moments like this matter, and so does how institutions show up. We’re committed to working together to ensure every student can feel safe, supported, and proud of their identity on campus.

ADL Washington, D.C. was in North Carolina last week for campus visits and a statewide advocacy day led by NC JCRC. From meetings with university administrators and student leaders to conversations with legislators, the trip underscored the importance of sustained partnership, education, and security in combating antisemitism.

Last week, more than 30 community leaders joined us and for D.C. Advocacy Day, lobbying councilmembers on issues including security funding and antisemitism awareness. Several attendees testified before the D.C. Council in support of renewing the Safe and Secure D.C. grant program, which last year provided $750,000 to 12 nonprofits, including several Jewish institutions at risk of hate crimes. We are grateful to JCRC for their leadership and partnership in making this day possible, and to for announcing $120,000 in supplemental security funding for nonprofits and faith-based organizations across the District. Advocacy is how policy becomes protection.

A banner reading “No Wars for Jews” is not protest. It echoes dangerous antisemitic tropes that blame Jews for global conflict. We must name it, challenge it, and reject it.
