We are celebrating a significant milestone for our community.

Every member of the Anne Arundel County Council voted unanimously to approve a $150K pilot program providing security grants for faith communities and nonprofits at risk of hate crimes.

Thank you to the Jewish Federation of Annapolis & the Chesapeake (Jewish Federation of Annapolis & the Chesapeake) for their leadership throughout this process. Their commitment, persistence and coalition-building made this moment possible, and we are proud to stand alongside them in advocacy.

This pilot is a meaningful step toward protecting vulnerable communities from hate, and we look forward to seeing it move forward.

Advocacy in action🏛️

Across Maryland and D.C., ADL helped advance key legislative and budget wins that strengthen protections for faith communities, improve reporting of bias-motivated incidents in schools, recognize Jewish and Muslim American heritage, and invest in security for vulnerable institutions.

We are grateful to the legislators, coalition partners, and community advocates who helped make these wins possible, and we remain committed to advancing policies that protect Jewish communities and all communities targeted by hate.

On Thursday, ADL Washington, D.C. joined AJC, the Israeli Embassy, the Lillian and Albert Small Capital Jewish Museum, and our Jewish community in remembrance of Sarah Milgrim, z”l, and Yaron Lischinsky, z”l.

We gathered to honor their lives, light candles in their memory, and hold one another in grief, reflection, and community.

📊 Antisemitism in Virginia: What the Numbers Tell Us

Each year, ADL tracks antisemitic harassment, vandalism and assault across the U.S. The latest data from our annual Audit of Antisemitic Incidents is here, and the numbers for Virginia tell an important story.
In 2025, antisemitic incidents in Virginia dropped 40%, from 266 to 159. A meaningful decline, but vandalism remains elevated above 2023 levels and Virginia recorded more than three times as many incidents in 2025 as it did just four years earlier.

📊 Antisemitism in North Carolina: What the Numbers Tell Us

Each year, ADL tracks antisemitic harassment, vandalism and assault across the U.S. The latest data from our annual Audit of Antisemitic Incidents is here, and the numbers for North Carolina tell an important story.

In 2025, antisemitic incidents in North Carolina dropped 45%, from 175 to 96. Encouraging progress, but vandalism actually rose year over year and the five-year trend makes clear that antisemitism in our state has reached a deeply concerning new normal.

ADL Washington, D.C. applauds Governor Wes Moore for signing SB177/HB750, which ensures Marylanders can access their houses of worship without fear of obstruction and interference.

We are grateful to the bill’s lead sponsors, Senator Chris West and Delegate Samuel I. “Sandy” Rosenberg, and for the unanimous support of legislators in the general assembly.

At a time when faith communities are facing heightened threats and intimidation, Maryland is sending a clear message: everyone deserves to worship safely and freely.
