Washington Community Fellowship

Washington Community Fellowship is a Christ-centered, multi-denominational faith community.

WCF is a worshiping community that values:

Reconciliation: living out restored, transformed and loving relationships between God and us, our homes, neighborhoods, workplaces and institutions. Diversity: respecting the variety of denominations, backgrounds, traditions, cultures and ages that come together in the body of Christ. Community: evidencing invitation, joy, freedom and healing through lov

ing and honest relationships, mutual submission and intimacy with God and others. Discipleship: nurturing faithful obedience to Jesus according to God’s word and by the Spirit with commitment to evangelism, spiritual disciplines and service. Racial Justice: addressing prevalent and specific attitudes, behaviors and structures that deny opportunities and power because of racial identification. Leadership: providing spiritual oversight and exercising mutual accountability in all areas of our congregational vision, mission, core values and strategies. Neighborhood Relevancy: responding to the surrounding needs and challenges as we work with others for the neighborhood’s common good and well-being. Gifting: discerning God’s call and vocation for our lives by the use of gifts, regardless of race, class, educational and economic background, gender and age. Stewardship: being faithful managers of all that we are and have in service to God and humanity. Connections: fostering relationships of mutuality and responsibility within our local settings and beyond-denominationally, nationally and globally.

🔆 In this family, we stay 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙩. We pay 𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣. We bring ourselves 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩.

In the garden, out of his deep love, Jesus stayed before the Father with sweat, anguish, and prayer, facing the suffering that was coming.

Elder Neal Smith reminded us that belonging to God's family calls us to stay with one another. It also leads us to name the stories that are buried within us that lead us to sin against our siblings in Christ.

Our formation happens slowly, through abiding rather than striving

On Sunday, Pastor Andrew preached on The Shape of Grace, reminding us that the grace of God doesn't doesn't simply forgive us—it forms us.

As we continue in 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑮𝒐𝒅'𝒔 𝑳𝒐𝒗𝒆, we'll keep learning to 𝙬𝙖𝙡𝙠 as Jesus walked, stop 𝙝𝙞𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜, confess 𝙝𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙡𝙮, and 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙚𝙞𝙫𝙚 grace again and again.

In Scripture, love is more than sentiment or self-expression. 𝙂𝙤𝙙’𝙨 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙨 𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙚—in truth, forgiveness, community, hospitality, courage, and sacrificial care for others.

The center of the Christian life is the love of God revealed in Jesus. And as we abide in Christ together, the Church becomes a visible expression of God’s love in the world.

The 𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙚 of God’s love begins as 𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙤𝙙𝙞𝙚𝙙 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮.

In our new series, 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑮𝒐𝒅'𝒔 𝑳𝒐𝒗𝒆, we'll explore how the Spirit forms ordinary people into a community that reflects the life and love of Jesus.

God's call to “walk in the light” isn’t a demand for flawless steps. It’s an invitation to let love illuminate the next right thing.

In this time of self-focus and overwhelming need, the 𝙥𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚, as taught and modeled by Jesus, is vital.

In the Way of Jesus, love means: Offering hidden acts of service to those right in front of us. Allowing ourselves to be interrupted by unexpected needs. Overlapping our lives with those on the margins.
