No decisions about us without us. ✊🏾

The CDC will no longer directly fund nearly 100 community-based organizations, shifting that money to state and local health departments instead. new piece for Aware shows how communities living with HIV are being shut out of the decisions that affect them, and why that breaks the promise of the 1983 Denver Principles.

Without CDC-funded community HIV prevention, amfAR projects 6,840 missed diagnoses, 1,993 avoidable infections, and $1B+ in cost of care over 10 years. 68% of that burden falls on the South.

****************
Broadway Cares is one of our most significant funders. So much of what NHAHC does for HIV housing across this country runs on their support.

Thirty years ago RENT put people living with HIV at the center of the story. The fight is not over, and housing is still one of the most powerful tools we have.

Permanent HIV supportive housing is what works. 🏠

89% of residents living with HIV at in Minneapolis maintain viral suppression. That is not a coincidence. That is what a stable home does.

HUD is reconsidering Housing First, and the public comment period closes October 13. The agency is proposing to steer funding away from permanent housing and tie assistance to treatment participation.

A safe place to live is not a reward for proving you are sober enough or stable enough to deserve one.

You do not need to be a researcher to comment. Tell HUD what Housing First means for the people you serve. We have a summary guide and a comment template ready for you, linked in bio. It takes about 15 minutes.

One year of Rita Harcrow, Director of the Home TA Center. 🎉

This month marks Rita's first year with the National HIV/AIDS Housing Coalition, and what a year it's been. From HOPWA advocacy to technical assistance for providers across the country, Rita brings steadiness, deep expertise, and genuine care for the people our work serves.

Happy work anniversary, Rita. We're lucky to have you.

🎉 Breaking: HUD released the HOPWA-C Renewal Notice.

After months of delay, HUD has published the FY2026 HOPWA Permanent Supportive Housing renewal and replacement notice, CPD-26-14. It covers grants expiring between June 1, 2026 and December 31, 2027.

This notice should have been issued in June. We are grateful it is finally released, so that safely housed individuals continue to receive permanent supportive housing.

Thank you to Representatives Chris Pappas, Jerry Nadler, and Maggie Goodlander and Senator Jeanne Shaheen, who led the bicameral letter to Secretary Turner, and to the 46 members who signed it. To those who reached out to HUD directly. To every organization, city, and state that signed our community letter on a two-day turnaround.

And to you. This is what advocacy looks like!

That's a wrap on USCHA 2026!!

We came to talk about housing as HIV care, and we left with a room full of people ready to fight for it.

Swipe through for a few of our favorite moments: our session, the opening reception, and time with the board members and partners who make this work possible.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, asked hard questions, and stayed after to keep talking. Housing is healthcare, and this community proves it every year.
