Summer Volunteers, Lasting Impact 💛

For the past six weeks, our Beloved Babies Layette Program has been powered by an incredible group of student volunteers from Georgetown Visitation, Stone Ridge, Gonzaga, and Saint Bartholomew School.

Together, they organized supplies, prepared Toddler Sacks, packaged diapers, completed inventory projects, and assembled 500 clothing packets for our September distributions, helping ensure hundreds of local babies have the essentials they need.

What has inspired us most isn't just everything they accomplished—it's how many chose to come back, often bringing friends with them. Their compassion, leadership, and willingness to serve remind us that community service can be meaningful, joyful, and truly life-changing.

Thank you for spending part of your summer making a difference for children and families across our community. The future is bright because of young people like you.

Thanks to a generous grant from The Columbia Foundation, Christ Child Society DC can expand our Read to Me program and literacy efforts at CentroNía. This support helps put books in the hands of children and families who might not otherwise have access to them while encouraging the early language and literacy skills essential for future success. We are deeply grateful for their partnership.

💙 Swaddled in Love: A Year of Compassion in Action 💙

As another year of the Beloved Babies Layette Program comes to a close, we’re reflecting on the incredible impact made possible through our volunteers, donors, schools, students, and community partners.

This year, together we reached:
👶 3,589 newborns
🧸 700 toddlers
🤝 25 partner agencies across the Washington metropolitan area.

A heartfelt thank you to the members who faithfully packed every layette and toddler sack, the schools and service clubs that organized drives and volunteer projects, our 400+ Blanket Makers who lovingly create nearly 4,000 handmade blankets each year, our dedicated Medallers, and our delivery volunteers who help bring these gifts to families throughout our community.

Most importantly, thank you to our partner agencies who ensure every parent and child is welcomed with dignity, compassion, and care.

As Mary Virginia Merrick reminded us, “Nothing is too much.” That spirit continues to guide our work each and every day.

✨ Where Love Leads to Action, lives are changed.

As we head into a week of fireworks, family gatherings, and celebrating our nation’s independence, we hope you’ll take one small moment to help a local child begin life with hope.

June 30 marks the close of Christ Child Society DC’s fiscal year, and every gift made by the end of the day helps us continue providing newborn layettes, books, diapers, educational support, and essential resources to children and families across the Washington, DC area.

There are several ways to give before the fiscal year closes:

Donate online
Venmo: Christ Child Society DC | Nonprofit Serving Children Since 1887 (memo: Annual Appeal)
Zelle [email protected] (memo: Annual Appeal)
Mail a check—if postmarked by June 30, it will count toward our FY26 Annual Appeal.

Every dollar helps us meet the material, educational, and emotional needs of the children and families we serve. Thank you for helping us finish this fiscal year strong!

🐛📚 Bugs, books, songs, and lots of smiles filled the room as the Cahill Hathaway Guild hosted the final CentroNía Read to Me session of the academic year!

Inspired by The Very Hungry Caterpillar, the children buzzed with excitement throughout the morning. From storytime and songs to themed activities and adorable bug headbands, it was a joyful celebration of reading, learning, and imagination.

Read to Me is part of our Beloved Babies Layette Program, which introduces families to the importance of reading together from a child’s earliest days. Every layette includes a new board book, helping parents begin building home libraries and creating meaningful moments of connection through reading.

As children grow, programs like Read to Me continue that journey by bringing stories to life through interactive reading, music, movement, and play while helping foster a lifelong love of books. 📚

We can’t wait to see these young readers again in September! 💙📖

As we approach the end of our fiscal year on June 30, we’re asking for your help to close the gap and ensure our programs continue reaching the children and families who count on them.

Whether it’s welcoming a newborn with a layette, supporting students in their educational journey, or helping girls build confidence through Girls on the Rise, your generosity makes these moments possible.

Thank you for being part of this mission and helping us put love into action.

Make your gift today at the link in our bio, via venmo or Zelle, and help us close the gap before June 30.

Before we officially welcome summer, we’re celebrating the students who have helped make a difference for children and families across our community. 💙

Through diaper drives, bake sales, volunteer shifts, packing events, and service projects, students from Georgetown Visitation, Holy Child, Stone Ridge, Georgetown Prep, and Gonzaga have supported Christ Child Society DC in countless ways this year.

We’re especially grateful to our graduating seniors, whose leadership, generosity, and dedication have strengthened our mission and inspired others to serve.

Thank you for sharing your time, talents, and hearts with CCS DC. Your impact will be felt far beyond this school year, and we can’t wait to see all the good you’ll continue to do in the world.

✨ Congratulations, Class of 2026!

💛💚At Georgetown Visitation, members of the CCS DC Club, led by Club President Nora Neill, spent the year providing hands-on support to our Layette Program. Their monthly volunteer service helped prepare books, diapers, toddler sacks, and essential items for the families we serve.

💙 Four graduating SR seniors dedicated more than 200 volunteer hours over two years through the Social Action Program, demonstrating an extraordinary commitment to service and advocacy for children and families in need.

💛💙 Holy Child student leaders continued the tradition of the annual May Crowning Diaper Drive and Baby Shower Bake Sale, collecting 1,316 diapers and raising funds to support babies and toddlers in our Beloved Babies Layette Program.

💙🩶 Prep students regularly stepped forward to assist with service projects, packing efforts, and special events. We are especially grateful to one graduating senior whose initiative led to a diaper drive that collected more than 10,000 diapers for local babies and toddlers.
