CAPS Hosts the Inaugural Potomac Dialogue 2025

On October 16th, CAPS was honored to host the inaugural Potomac Dialogue, a platform dedicated to advancing regional cooperation and strategic understanding in Washington DC. The Potomac Dialogue brought together distinguished leaders and experts committed to fostering practical and comprehensive discussion and collaboration.

We were privileged to welcome H.E. Nguyen Quoc Dzung, who delivered an inspirational and insightful keynote address. His remarks were especially timely as Vietnam assumes the chairmanship of the ASEAN Committee in Washington, D.C. (ACW). Ambassador Dzung underscored the importance of dialogue, cooperation, and respect for international law, highlighting ASEAN and APEC’s critical roles in promoting peace and stability across the region.

Our sincere thanks to all participants and partners who made this event a success. We look forward to continuing this vital dialogue.

On July 1, 2025, the Center for Asia Pacific Strategy (CAPS) received a formal invitation to the House of Lords of the United Kingdom Parliament. This invitation was extended to request expert testimony from CAPS on Asia-Pacific security policy. This engagement establishes a significant precedent, marking the inaugural instance in which a U.S. policy group has been formally invited to address the UK Parliament. Previously, American invitees have included high-level officials such as the United States Special Envoy for North Korean Human Rights, sitting Members of Congress, and Special Policy Advisors from both the Department of State and the White House. This event provided a timely and critical platform for discussing the prevailing international geopolitical landscape. 💡

🌐 A message from CAPS CEO and President, Hee-Eun Kim:

“The Center for Asia Pacific Strategy (CAPS) was founded to unite visionary leaders committed to meaningful dialogue and deeper understanding of the Asia Pacific’s complex economic and security dynamics.

We were honored when Mr. Timothy Cho of the APPG on North Korea and the House of Lords hosted a policy dialogue at the UK Parliament—made possible by the leadership of Sir Iain Duncan Smith MP, Lord Alton of Liverpool, and Mr. Cho. Notably, CAPS became the first U.S. think tank invited for such a dialogue.

We are deeply grateful to our Advisors and team who, despite demanding schedules and at personal expense, traveled from Germany, Switzerland, and the U.S. to contribute. Their commitment exemplifies the shared values driving our mission for a more stable, humane global future.”
