NCNW Headquarters NCNW was founded in 1935 by illustrious leader Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune.

National Council Negro Women (NCNW) is an “organization of organizations,” comprised of 330 campus and community-based sections and 33 national women’s organizations that enlightens, inspires, and connects more than 2,000,000 women and men. Its mission is to lead, advocate for, and empower women of African descent, their families, and communities. It was founded in 1935 by Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune, an influential educator and activist, and for more than fifty years, the iconic Dr. Dorothy Height was president of NCNW. Today, the NCNW programs are grounded on a foundation of critical concerns that are now “NCNW Priorities.” Our organization promotes education; encourages entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and economic stability; educates women about health and promotes healthcare access, and promotes civic engagement and advocates for sound public policy and social justice.

Ready to take the next step toward your professional goals? The Career Accelerator is designed to help Bethune-Height Changemakers explore career possibilities, strengthen professional skills, and prepare for life beyond the undergraduate experience.

As a Changemaker, you'll work through assignments that focus on:

-Developing a personalized career strategy.
-Strengthening your financial strategy.
-Exploring postgraduate education opportunities.
-Conducting professional interviews.
-Creating a professional portfolio that showcases your strengths and accomplishments.

You'll also gain access to mentorship from a Black woman professional with at least five years of post-undergraduate experience, along with virtual masterclasses led by Black women experts.
Invest in your future, expand your network, and build the confidence to pursue your goals.

At the 62nd NCNW National Convention in Atlanta, we’re highlighting leaders whose work goes beyond their titles and makes a difference in others' lives. Dr. Bellamy’s dedication to service reflects the lasting impact of investing in COMMUNITY. From his time as Vice Mayor of Charlottesville to his leadership with 100 Black Men of Central Virginia, he has remained committed to investing in young people and creating opportunities for them to succeed.

As a professor and Department Chair at Virginia State University, Dr. Bellamy continues this work through education and leadership development. His commitment to service reflects the importance of showing up for our communities and creating pathways for the next generation to thrive.

NCNW is pleased to welcome Tanya Miller to the 62nd NCNW National Convention in Atlanta!

As the Democratic nominee for Georgia Attorney General, a Georgia State Representative, and Chair of the Georgia House Democratic Caucus, Miller brings more than two decades of legal experience and public service. Her career includes serving as an Assistant U.S. Attorney and Fulton County prosecutor. She also serves as General Counsel to the Georgia Federation of Public Service Employees.

Miller has dedicated her career to the law and public service. Her work focuses on protecting working families and promoting accountability in government.

BHCP is a one-year fellowship designed to helpundergraduate scholars accelerate their career and changemaker journeys through personal and professional development,mentorship, experiential learning, and meaningful community connections.
Rising freshmen through rising seniors from all academic majors and career interests are encouraged to apply for the Career Accelerator, the Impact Accelerator, or both.
Selected fellows will gain access to valuable resources, professional development opportunities, and a $2,000–$3,000scholarship to support their growth.

We’re putting our training into action! On October 10, NCNW will host a National POWER UP Phone Banking Day. Every NCNW section’s goal is at least 1,000 voter contact calls and 100 doors knocked.

Imagine the collective impact when sections across the country are calling voters on the same day. Together we’ll educate voters, share important election information, encourage participation and show the power of coordinated NCNW action.
