You will learn to track cash flow, spot spending patterns, and build an emergency fund from zero. We’re closing out today’s celebration of the 2026 EXCEL Award finalists with Dixon Osburn.

Dixon Osburn is the Executive Director of Institute for Strategic Dialogue-US (ISD-US), bringing three decades of experience advancing human rights, security, and democracy. He co-founded Servicemembers Legal Defense Network, helping lead the successful effort to repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” and has held leadership roles at Human Rights First and the Center for Justice and Accountability. A former Fellow at Harvard Kennedy School’s Carr Center for Human Rights Policy, Dixon is also the author of Mission Possible: The Story of Repealing Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. He holds a JD/MBA from Georgetown University and an AB from Stanford University.

We’re continuing today’s celebration of the 2026 EXCEL Award finalists with
Joanne Lin.

Joanne Lin is the Executive Director of the Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs, where she draws on over 25 years of expertise in public interest law, policy advocacy, and nonprofit leadership. Her work has focused on immigrant justice, civil rights, women’s rights, and human rights, with previous leadership roles at Amnesty International USA and the American Civil Liberties Union. Joanne has also represented survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault and has received numerous honors for her public interest work. She holds a JD from NYU School of Law, an MA from Stanford School of Education, and a BA from Stanford University.

Each year, the Excellence in Chief Executive Leadership (EXCEL) Award gives us an opportunity to recognize outstanding nonprofit leaders! This year brought another strong pool of nominees, and today we’re excited to introduce the three leaders who have been named 2026 EXCEL Award finalists—starting with Erica Beal.

Erica Beal is the Executive Director of School Leader Lab, where she brings her passion for supporting school leaders and helping them find greater joy, sustainability, and impact in their work. She began her career as a Teach For America corps member and spent a decade as a teacher and school leader before joining School Leader Lab. Her work is grounded in strengthening relationships, equipping leaders with practical tools, and advancing more equitable school systems. Erica holds a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University and a master’s degree from Columbia University.

Congratulations again to Glen O’Gilvie, CAE, on receiving FAN-DC’s Sector Champion Award. We see the commitment he brings to this work every day, and it was great to see him celebrated for it!

Thank you to FAN DC for recognizing me with the Sector Champion Award at the Linked Hearts, Endless Impact Gala.

It was great to spend the evening with people who care about this community and to celebrate 21 years of FAN-DC. I appreciate the recognition and everyone who came out to celebrate with us.
