Washington Area Fuel Fund

Program runs January thru May 31st of each year. Since our founding, we have distributed over $25 million to more than 280,000 DC area residents.

Washington Gas created the Washington Area Fuel Fund (WAFF) program to help neighbors in financial need pay their natural gas heating bill once they been disconnected. Washington Area Fuel Fund (WAFF) was established by Washington Gas and The Salvation Army to help locals in need keep their lights and heat on. The Salvation Army disburses the funds through its 12 offices in the metropolitan region while Washington Gas pays all administrative, promotional and fundraising expenses.
