He came to provide medical care in the Dominican Republic. But it was a simple act of kindness that left a lasting impression.

During one of the clinic days, Matthew, a Family Nurse Practitioner student at Emory School of Nursing , experienced a moment he won’t soon forget.

Members of the community offered the team fresh coconuts to drink. A simple gesture, but one filled with so much kindness and generosity.

For Matthew, it was a reminder that these trips are about so much more than the care we provide. They’re about the people we meet, the relationships we build, and the ways we learn from one another.

At Foundation for Peace, we believe meaningful partnerships go both ways. We come ready to serve, but we also come ready to listen, learn, and receive.

And often, it’s the moments of connection that stay with us long after the trip ends. 🤝

The impact of a medical mission isn't measured by the number of patients seen or treatments provided. It's one person who finally feels heard. One patient who finds relief. One family that leaves with a little more hope.

This reflection from one of our team members captures something we believe deeply at Foundation for Peace: Medical care is about more than treating symptoms. It's about caring for people, building relationships, and patient education.

And when we work hand in hand with local healthcare providers and communities, those moments of care become part of something bigger.

Every person matters. Every story matters. And every act of compassion has the potential to make a lasting difference.

Two years ago, Kelvin's family was facing an unimaginable season.

Kelvin worked as a motorcycle taxi driver, providing for his family. But just days before his daughter's first birthday, a devastating accident nearly took his life and threatened his ability to walk again.

For months, Kelvin relied on a wheelchair. His motorcycle was destroyed. His family surrounded him with love and support as he faced a long and uncertain recovery.

Foundation for Peace teams came alongside Kelvin and his family, helping him access the care and support he needed.

And one year later, Kelvin reached out with a message:

"Today marks one year since my accident and thanks to you and your team (Foundation for Peace) I can walk again. Without your help I wouldn't have achieved this. A thousand thanks to all of you and may God continue to bless you and your team."

But there's even more to celebrate.

Kelvin's foot is healed. He has a job caring for animals on a chicken farm. His family has moved to be closer to this new opportunity.

A year ago, their future felt uncertain. Today, they have renewed hope.

We are grateful for Kelvin's family, the people who cared for him, and everyone who helped make his recovery possible.

Often times the impact of medical care reaches far beyond one patient. It changes what's possible for an entire family.

Join us in celebrating Kelvin's recovery and praying for his future! ❤️

Together, we can go further. This is the impact of partnership!

Our Kenya mission team worked hand in hand with the Kenyan local government when planning for a 3-day medical clinic. The clinic was held at The Living Word Church at Mathare North. There were so many partners that showed up through working hand in hand that both floors of the church were in use. FFP's team members worked side by side with Kenyan doctors, nurses, pharmacists, cardiologists, dentists, pastors, counselors and so many more.

This year was deeply impactful for the community of Mathare North. We are grateful for every individual who attended the trip, and anyone that has donated to medical care follow up and other ministries we partner with in Kenya.

FFP is transforming communities with sustainable change one clinic, one school, one home, and one life at a time.
