Initially, our main goal was to provide the village with access to power and safe water. However, we quickly realized that there were other pressing needs that had to be addressed before the village could have sustainable access to safe water and power.

In response to a specific request from the village elders, we included two restrooms designated for both men and women in the community center. This was crucial for the sanitation of the people in the village. Additionally, we supplied each family with solar-powered lights as a temporary solution to address the lack of electricity and enable them to carry out their daily activities even in the dark.

To tackle the issue of water conservation, we are working closely with the Ministry of Water, Land and Agriculture, the local water authority, and the office of the Governor of the Hardap region to find sustainable solutions.

As a first step towards economic sustainability for the village, we initiated the construction of a chicken farm. This will serve as a sustainable source of food for the village and also generate income for the people.

We are currently working closely with the office of the Governor of Hardap region and the Ministry of Water, Land and Agriculture to provide comprehensive training to the people of Soutputz. Our goal is to equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively manage the chicken farm and market its products. Through this initiative, we hope to empower the community and support their economic sustainability.

While visiting the village, Dr. Vakhshouri was accompanied by the governor of the Hardap region as they toured several boreholes and the site where rainwater is gathered. Unfortunately, most of the boreholes were not operational. Furthermore, the Ministry of Agriculture sent a representative from the Department of Rural Water Supply in the Hardap region to join them. They had a discussion on the strategies for preserving water for the village.

The supplies for the community center were purchased today. One of the ways the multi-purpose community center will be utilized is as an avenue of youth engagement.

The closest school to the community is 40 kilometers away, and most of the elder students have to live in hostels near school. This center and school will allow younger kids to be close to their family while receiving their required education.
