A glimpse at the hard work of moving these life saving supplies.

The donations my brother and I gathered were taken into the city of Lviv. From there, we setup a base of operations in an apartment owned by our relatives. With the supplies now inside Ukraine, we reached out to our contacts. One who was too far to reach sent a trusted friends to gather the supplies and bring them back. In this case, supplies picked up by car and taken to Kyiv. At both drop of and upon reaching the final destination we submitted photo evidence of the hand off. Here you can see the supplies both being loaded, and then after distributed to the medics themselves, which has been blurred to protect against geo-location.

UPDATE: We are happy to say that the supply run and distribution of the medical supplies was a complete success! Bringing over 450lbs, around $20,000 worth of medical supplies, we were able to distribute it to both military and civilian areas in dire need of it. This included Yavoriv which had been recently hit by missile strikes and were asking for urgent assistance. Other medical supples have made it to Kyiv and territorial defense units around Ukraine. In the van pictured, we were able to work together with a Polish church group delivering humanitarian goods such as food, pampers and clothing to a church in Ukraine for further distribution, thereby multiplying the good work done. More updates and photos to come, but we are incredibly thankful to all those who made this possible. Thank you for your donations and support!

UPDATE: Dear friends, donors and supporters! We have made it to Ukraine with the supplies! Half of the supplies have already been distributed and are on their way to critical areas including Kharkiv. The full supply list has been posted. However we will keep updates to a minimum as we distribute in Ukraine both for our safety and due to poor internet connection. Full updates will come after!

I wanted to post the first official update on how the donation effort is coming along! We have officially, as of this morning, raised $18,576.14 from 76 different donors. This is an astounding number, far larger than what was expected. Orders for supplies are ongoing, and the first wave of supplies has come in. Among this first wave was 60 Chest seals (used for puncture wounds), a huge amount of bandages, 20 packs of burn bandages, trauma shears, 2 Trauma kits, hypothermia blankets, the always needed C-A-T Combat application Tourniquets. I will be posting updates as the supply collection continues with a full list posted on Wednesday night.

As money continues to be collected from donations, I want to announce that the original goal of $3,000 has been completely exceeded. Since the collection was started on March 3rd, about $10,000 has been collected. Transporation to Poland next week has already been booked, and supplies are being order. Thank you all for the support! Will be posting photos of supplies and purchases as they come in.

Dear Friends and Supporters of Ukraine,

As many of you have already heard, on February 24th, Russia declared war on the free nation of Ukraine. The Ukrainian people are now engaged in a war for their very survival. A war where Russian forces target civilians, and refugees flee in long columns to neighboring countries. There is a desperate need for supplies, specifically medical supplies, within the country.
Therefore, I am collecting donations for medical supplies to be brought over from the west and handed directly to reputable sources in most need. I have been volunteering, living, and working in Ukraine since 2014. I’ve spent many months in the past eight years directly volunteering with the trauma ward in the Main Military Hospital in Kyiv. I speak the language. I have a trusted network of connections and civilian volunteers with whom I can coordinate supply runs. I was once a Fulbrighter in Khmelnitsky, a journalist in Kyiv. I still have family in Lviv.
I plan to use all donated money to purchase supplies in the U.S. and bring them to Ukraine. I have spoken with sources that have mentioned the medical supplies here, such as combat application tourniquets, are more cost-efficient. Purchasing supplies here for transport to Ukraine also does not add stress to Ukraine’s logistics or deplete their local supplies system. I will be traveling from Washington D.C. to Poland, taking the supplies with me. From there, I plan to deliver the supplies directly into trusted hands and accompany them as far as I can across the border into Ukraine. The plan is a 14-day long excursion. I will update my progress through Facebook, taking the effort to provide photographic documentation and the utmost transparency with your donation.
My goal is to help the people of Ukraine with the utmost confidence to our donors. I want you to know that your money is going directly into the hands of those who need it and that it is being effective.
As a freelance journalist for the Ukrainian Weekly Newspaper, I will also be using the time to directly report on the situation, particularly at the border, among the refugees, and about the organizations and people who are using these donations to help. I plan to write and publish an article showing what happens to your donation: from the second you click donate, its journey to Ukraine and to the moment it begins saving lives. This is to build confidence in giving to helpful organizations and showing the impact that people like you are making in Ukraine.
Please consider donating; these are not cheap supplies, but there has already been a tremendous success in collecting these supplies in the D.C. area by Ukrainians and moving them over to Ukraine.

With great respect,
Zachary Dmyterko

What your donations will be going towards:
Primarily, Medical supplies:
• Combat application tourniquets
• Hemostatic dressings
• Bandages
• Trauma shears
• Emergency Trauma Kit
• Vent Chest Seals
• Needle D’s
• 16 and 18 Gauge catheters
• IV tubing
• Blood Transfusion Kits
• Chest Tube kits
• Hypothermia blankets
• Burn dressings
• Pelvic binders
• Bag valve masks
Nonperishable food items will also be purchased and handed over for the benefit of those facing food shortages and for refugees.
If enough money is collected, I will procure armored vests to be handed over as well. These are hard to get, but critical and lifesaving.
The funds will also be used for the transportation of the supplies and ensuring it gets across the border.
This list will be updated and a full report on what is purchased will be posted through a page, along with updates and any situational changes. I am reviving an old page where I once collected donations for the Main Military Hospital to post updates.
Note: Some but not all donations will not necessarily be going to the Military Hospital in Kyiv. Supply lines to the city are incredibly difficult. The supplies will be taken to organizations, doctors and places where they are needed within Ukraine, this may change as the situation develops.

Very happy to announce that the medical bag that we raised $100 for has finally arrived. Right away I can tell it’s a heavy duty bag made from high quality materials. It will really be a great aid to saving Ukrainian lives on the frontlines.

Thank you again to everyone who made this possible.
Especially Kari Hiepko Odermann , Lida Donners and so many others!

I will hand over the medical backpack to the hospital after this weekend and ensure it makes it into the right hands. Transparency is important to me, and I want to make sure it makes it to the front to medical personnel who will use it to its fullest.

The medical bag has been ordered and will be shipped as soon as it finishes being produced. A big thank you again to all those who donated to make this possible. The bag should arrive just in time for the holidays and it will be passed on to frontline medics where it can assist in saving lives.

Thank you to Antenum for producing such high quality bags for the Ukrainian soldiers!

Uploaded is the receipt of the purchase.
