After serving 8 years in prison, Damen Winning has finally been released!

Damen says that moment in the picture, was the best thing that happened to him since he has been out, uniting with his grandmother!

Damen was arrested by federal agents at his very first concert over a cannabis-related offense. Eight years later, he refuses to let that chapter define his future. Damen told us, "Even though I did all that time, it's not going to stop me from chasing my dreams!" Today, he at the halfway house, working on new music, and actively pursuing his career as an music artist.

🚨 We’re at Zalympix LA TODAY! 🚨

If you're attending Zalympix in Los Angeles, California, be sure to stop by the Freedom Grow booth ( #2) located just inside the entrance!

Freedom Grow needs a few good volunteers tomorrow at Zalympix in LA, California!

We’ll be out there supporting the mission to bring light to a dark cell and help cannabis prisoners and their families. Volunteers will receive a staff pass to help work the booth, talk to the community, and hold it down for the cause.

🎂 MAY BIRTHDAYS 🎂

Every month at Freedom Grow, we do our best to make sure the people on our outreach list know they are not forgotten, especially on their birthdays. This month we only have a few people on the birthday list!

For every incarcerated individual whose birthday we have on file, we send a $25 birthday gift along with a handmade birthday card filled with love and encouragement.

Our Commissary Coordinator and Board Member, Tracie Gloor, personally prepares each birthday money order and mails them out with homemade cards created by her granddaughter. 💛

This program is especially meaningful to Tracie and her family. Her son Lance served a 10-year sentence for medical cannabis in Washington State, and their family has remained deeply committed volunteers and supporters of Freedom Grow ever since. Their compassion, dedication, and love have touched so many lives within our community.

We also want to sincerely thank the sponsors and supporters who help make birthday commissary possible. Because of your generosity, we are able to remind our loved ones behind bars that someone still cares, someone still remembers them, and someone is still fighting for them.

💚 THANK YOU VLASIC CLASSIC 💚

A huge thank you to Vlasic Classic for their continued support of Freedom Grow and the cannabis prisoners and families we serve.

Because of their generosity, Vlasic's last donation will help go towards finishing a current round of commissary we are distributing, the rest will go to, books, magazines, outreach, and reentry assistance to individuals incarcerated for cannabis-related offenses. For those behind bars, these support services are essential.

We are deeply grateful to Vlasic Classic for standing beside our mission and helping us continue to “Bring Light to Dark Cells.” Partnerships like this truly make a difference in the lives of incarcerated individuals and their families.

💚 THANK YOU GOLDFLOWER & EVERYONE WHO SUPPORTS THE FREEDOM ROLL 💚

Because of the support from Goldflower and everyone who purchased the Freedom Roll, Freedom Grow raised enough funds to send a round of commissary support to approximately 240 incarcerated individuals on our outreach list!

For many cannabis prisoners, commissary means food, hygiene products, communication with family, and a small sense of hope while serving time for cannabis-related offenses.

This effort takes an entire team of volunteers working together behind the scenes. Bobi updates addresses and verified releases, Kristin purchases the money orders, Tracie fills them out by hand, Mitzi handles online commissary, Kristi incorporates everything into our financial records, and Randy spent months helping build this partnership and secure the donations. Bill, Jeff, and Kristin also helped organize and facilitate the collaboration. Stephanie gave us the inspiration. Together, we are Bringing Light to Dark Cells!

This was truly a community effort powered by volunteers and the cannabis community coming together for people who are too often forgotten.

Last week, Freedom Grow traveled to Washington, DC for Unity Week alongside 40+ organizations united in the fight for cannabis justice.

Throughout the week, we met with congressional offices to educate lawmakers about our incarcerated loved ones and discuss legislation that could help move toward cannabis descheduling and pathways to freedom for those still behind bars.

Unity Week is proof of what’s possible when advocates, organizers, legal experts, and impacted families come together with one shared goal - justice.

Thank you to SSDP for leading this year’s coalition effort, and thank you to every organization and advocate who showed up, spoke out, educated, listened, and stood together.

Freedom Grow was proud to be represented ladt week by FG's CEO Bill Levers and CFO Kristi Kem.

We do this every year because our people are still waiting to come home.

What an incredible week at MJ Unpacked in Atlantic City! 💚

A HUGE thank you to the entire MJ Unpacked team for inviting Freedom Grow and for showing us so much love, kindness, and hospitality throughout the event. We truly felt welcomed and supported from the moment we arrived.

We also want to give a very special thank you to all of our amazing volunteers who helped make this week possible - Lauren and Arthur, one of our incredible Commissary Connects partners. Your support, dedication, and heart for this mission mean the world to us.

Another huge thank you to Kristin Flor and Randy Lanier for coming out and helping run the Freedom Grow booth all week long. We couldn’t have done it without you! 💚
