Happy Birthday to co-founder Mason Clark. Coach Mason, whose dedication and commitment to providing youth across the city with a competitive youth sports program centered on instruction and fair play. You are truly a DC legacy and appreciated by all whose lives you have influenced.

The Woodridge Warriors family is mourning the recent passing of two of our own. Former WWYO 12U baseball coach Anthony Shirley passed away two weeks ago, and today we received the news that Chayse Banks (basketball and football alum) had passed away.

Coach Shirley was a highly respected coach whose primary focus was teaching baseball the right way while making the game fun for all who participated.

Chayse Banks, whose entire family participated with WWYO, was coveted as a teammate and friend by those who proudly wore the blue and gold.

Both Coach Shirley and Chayse represented themselves and the organization with integrity and character and will be truly missed.

Condolences and prayers goes out to both their families and friends.

The Woodridge Warriors invite boys in grades 3 through 8 to our free Boys Basketball Camp this Sunday, November 30th. Third, fourth, and fifth-grade boys will participate in drills and skills development from 1 pm to 3 pm, followed by sixth, seventh, and eighth-grade girls from 3 pm to 5 pm. The camp takes place at the Perry Street Prep (formerly Taft JHS) gym, 18th Street and Perry Streets NE. Enter the building from the rear door on 18th Street.

The Woodridge Warriors invite girls in grades 3 through 8 to our free Girls Basketball Camp this Saturday, November 29th. The Woodridge Warriors (WWYO) are seeking boys and girls aged 5-13 who are interested in learning and competing on our winter youth basketball teams. WWYO's primary focus is to provide the foundation upon which our boys and girls learn and compete while enjoying the game and building their basketball IQs. Big congratulations to the Woodridge Warriors Middle School girls basketball team on winning the Impact League Fall Basketball Championship. The Lady Warriors defeated the BTL Royals Middle School girls by the score of 45-35.

Congratulations to the Woodridge Warriors 3rd and 5th-grade boys basketball teams for reaching the Impact League Fall Basketball Championship games. They, however, fell short and finished as runners-up in their respective grade-level competition. Congratulations on a successful season of learning and competing.

Congratulations to Woodridge Warrior alum Cameron Chism on his induction into the 2025 Bishop McNamara High School Hall of Fame. Cameron and his older brother, Carl Jr.(DeMatha), were standout football and baseball players for the Warriors. Their father, Carl Sr. was an outstanding WWYO football coach, and their mother, Barbara, was a dedicated WWYO volunteer. So, congratulations to the Chism family on Cameron's honor and for your support of the Woodridge Warriors organization. Go Cameron! Go Warriors!
