Our final Women's History Month post highlights , Community Relations Advisor for Shell Geismar and Convent.

Makesha supports Shell’s community and stakeholder engagement for all expansion projects and government affairs activities. Prior to joining Shell, Makesha served as the Director of Government Affairs for Louisiana Economic Development and worked as the Deputy Director of Policy and Legislative Affairs for Nebraska’s Department of Health and Human Services. She also spent some time in local government, serving as the Chief Service Officer in the Office of the Mayor-President for the City of Baton Rouge. With an impressive track-record for strategically navigating all levels of government, Makesha has worked tirelessly to pass significant pieces of legislation in support of the Film and Entertainment Industry in Louisiana, competitive business and industry tax incentives, and to protect and empower children and families both in the Louisiana and Nebraska state legislatures.

Named as a Top “40 Under 40” Young Professional by the Baton Rouge Business Report and a “Power Alumni” by HBCU Times Magazine, Makesha was recently featured at Essence Festival of Culture on the Global Black Economic Forum Mainstage. Makesha was appointed as a member of Louisiana’s HBCU Advisory Council, where she served as the co-chair of the Workforce & Economic Development Committee and was appointed by the Governor to serve as a member of Louisiana Women’s Policy and Research Commission.

A native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Makesha Judson is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and proud alumna of Southern University and A&M College where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and Master’s Degree in Public Administration.

Makesha shared that, "NBPLA has become one of the most valuable organizations that I am affiliated with. NBPLA provides opportunities to network, learn, and do business with a powerful group of Black professional lobbyists from across the U.S."

Today is the last day of Women's History Month and we are proud to close our month-long celebration by higlighting Nielah Tucker, Director of Federal Advocacy at
PhRMA.

In this role, she advocates on key priority issues to improve patient access and affordability to innovative lifesaving treatments and therapies with a focus on health equity. Her background combines community-based programming and government affairs expertise. Prior to joining PhRMA, Nielah supported program implementation for early childhood mental health services as a Program Support Specialist for the DC Department of Behavioral Health and facilitated the development of a health and medical coalition for DC of Health’s Emergency and Preparedness department. Nielah holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and Allied Health from Howard University, and a Master of Public Health and Community Health from Trinity
Washington University.

Nielah shared that, "Since PhRMA partnered with NBPLA, I’ve had the opportunity to attend their annual conference, which has significantly contributed to my growth as a new health policy lobbyist. The workshops focused on improving advocacy skills and provided invaluable networking opportunities with seasoned professionals in the field. Over the past year, I’ve continued to build these relationships, which have been crucial in establishing my support system as I navigate this new space. A powerhouse in government affairs and compliance, Gamble is shaping the future of lobbying and advocacy while championing diversity, equity, and inclusion. As Coordinator of Federal Compliance Services and DEI Initiatives at State and Federal Communications, Inc., she leads with expertise, ensuring ethical engagement in policy and public affairs.

Beyond her work, Gamble is dedicated to uplifting women in government relations. As a Board Member of Women in Government Relations (WGR) and former Chair of the DEI Committee, she has worked tirelessly to create pathways for women and Black professionals in the field.

As Executive Director of SGAC and SGAC Foundation since 2000, Beth has been a trailblazer in state government affairs, association management, and public policy. Her leadership, dedication, and impact continue to inspire the next generation of changemakers.

She writes, "The partnership between the State Government Affairs Council (SGAC) and the National Black Professional Lobbyists Association (NBPLA) highlights the strength of collaboration and community-building within the state government affairs field.
