Restoring Access to Justice funding must be a top priority.

If the Access to Justice Initiative is not fully funded at $31.668M, the impact on the D.C. residents we serve — including children, seniors, families, and vulnerable individuals — will be devastating. The safety, stability, and equity of our District depend on it.

We’re deeply appreciative of the Judiciary Committee’s efforts, but a $19.4M funding gap still remains — a 61% cut compared to FY24, FY25, and FY23 levels. Without full restoration, thousands of District residents will lose access to life-changing legal services.
