What is a Reduction in Force without being a Reduction in Force? A unending partial shutdown! As the President issues an executive order to pay Transportation Security Administration workers, a third of U.S. Customs and Border Protection workers continue working without pay! Many are considering leaving the agency because they can’t afford to stay on.

The House could have passed the Senate funding bill but chose not to. What’s worse is that they left town for two weeks!

It’s time to stop this nonsense! Contact your representatives and let them know that this is unacceptable! Remember, this November you have the power to vote out those who don’t support you!

Pressure is mounting for Congress to find a DHS funding solution over a month after the agency shut down. Senate Republicans claim their current offer is "final."

Congress keeps using federal employees as pawns to push their agenda. We all must engage our representatives as a collective voice to let them know we do not approve.

We need to make sure that the people who represent us in Congress work for us, not a party, not a president. We must be active in our democracy! Engage! Vote! We must not let a few rule over the many! E Pluribus Unum! Of Many One!

But while the national spotlight remains heavily fixed on TSA employees, many U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) support staff, working behind the scenes at El Paso’s ports of entry, are still going without pay. https://www.ktsm.com/news/cbp-support-staff-face-financial-strain-as-partial-gov...

As we move into a second month of a partial shutdown, more of our colleagues are seriously considering leaving the federal workforce.

This is all by design. Project 2025 has the goal to force as many people off the federal government payroll as possible. That’s why we must engage our representatives in congress to fund CBP. NTEU provides the resources to do that!

Survey says: The federal workforce is demoralized and public services are suffering: https://bit.ly/3PsDL8s

Funding for the Department of Homeland Security appropriation lapsed on February 14, resulting in a partial government shutdown affecting government personnel pay funded through this appropriation. As the NTEU 2026 Legislative Conference begins, chapter 128 is here to represent our colleagues to let our representatives in Congress know that we are not political pawns and they need to fully fund CBP so ALL employees are paid!

This is a great read! It’s worth being prepared as early as possible.

With so many currently heading for the exit, it’s a good time for federal employees to improve their understanding of the retirement process.

This is a great presentation of why bargaining unit employees should support their union. Although the presentation focuses more on private sector unions, federal unions have been negatively impacted each time there is a Republican, anti union platform. Unions are a collective! The more employees in the union, the collective has more say. In the case of federal employee unions, that say is with Congress and agency leaders. Join us today for a stronger tomorrow!

Just in case you hadn’t seen this. Stay warm and safe!

Most federal employees in the DC metro area will be granted weather and safety leave, with emergency employees, remote and telework employees expected to work.

Better a pound of prevention than a ton of regret. Please prepare for the worst, so you’re relieved you were.

1. Make sure you have your supervisors’ contact information (government email, mobile phone number) in your contacts in case you need to request to work from home (you must be telework ready) or take emergency leave (annual or sick).

2. Have bottled water, canned or ready to eat food, batteries for your flashlights, a power inverter or generator in case there’s an outage, blankets and other items to keep warm.

3. Monitor the weather from a reliable source (NWS, Weather Channel, Accuweather) and monitor OPM alerts for government operating status.

Snow on Sunday!

Here is what I am thinking right now for snowfall amounts 👇🏻 (the “+” means *or more*).

The biggest question; does sleet mix?

Regardless impacts are the same … main roads are a mess Sunday into midday Monday.

Schools are closed and/or delayed into Tuesday/Wednesday if not longer.

Are you prepped and how will you wait out the storm?
