A 6th grader sits crying in her middle school gymnasium.

Had she been crying because she was sick, frightened, injured, bullied, or emotionally overwhelmed, school officials likely would have contacted her parents immediately. Instead, they made her sit there knowing she was upset because the content of the "inclusion" assembly violated her religious beliefs.

For most school districts, an incident like this would be shocking. But for Highline Public School District in Burien, Washington, it has become a pattern.

For the third time ACLJ is intervening to stand up for this family's right to exercise their religious beliefs. This latest episode is a clear sign the district has no intention to stop its attacks against Christians on its own.

Washington keeps grabbing more power.

Congressman Barry Moore is fighting to take it back.

From election integrity to religious liberty to reining in the spending addiction of Washington politicians, these battles will determine what kind of country we leave our children.

That's why ACLJ Action is highlighting leaders who are willing to stand and fight.

Pro-abortion blue states are targeting pregnancy resource centers. We are fighting back.

When the government decides to use its power to silence those who defend life, it doesn’t just threaten one ministry – it threatens every American’s right to speak, to believe, and to serve according to their conscience. That’s exactly what’s at stake in our case.

Pastors. Christian school teachers. Faith-based nonprofit workers.

They've spent their lives serving others.

Now Washington is penalizing them in retirement.

No American should lose out on financial security because they chose a life of faith and service.

The ACLJ is urging Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the Trump Administration to closely examine proposed changes to India's charity laws that would dramatically expand their government’s power over churches, ministries, charities, orphanages, schools, hospitals, and humanitarian organizations receiving foreign support.

Organizations like these could not only be arbitrarily shut down, but under the proposed amendment they will lose ownership of their buildings, vehicles, bank accounts, humanitarian supplies, and ministry resources through government action.

And worst of all, it would dramatically reduce the good being done for the communities that need it the most.

For years, faith-based organizations in India have faced increasing pressure under India’s Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA). Thousands of NGOs have already lost licenses, including organizations involved in education, disaster relief, medical care, and ministry work. Further, the . . .

The First Amendment does not permit the federal government to condition tax-exempt status on surrendering core religious speech rights.

ACLJ has been fighting against the Johnson Amendment for decades. Churches should no longer have this threat hanging over their heads.

For seven decades, the Johnson Amendment has hung over churches and pastors as a cloud of government intimidation. Under this provision of the federal tax code, churches and nonprofit organizations risk losing their tax-exempt status if the IRS determines they improperly engaged in political . . .

The ACLJ has filed an amicus brief in the Fourth Circuit in support of three Liberty University students who are challenging the exclusion of religious studies from tuition assistance grants. The government cannot open a public benefit to everyone and then slam the door on students simply because of their faith.

250 years ago, the Founders of this nation put their names to a document that declared certain truths to be self-evident – not granted by government but by God – among them liberty and the right to act according to one’s conscience. The Founders had lived under a Crown that used its power to f...

This new documentary details the Trump Administration's findings of anti-Christian bias and government weaponization against people of faith during the Biden Administration. And the ACLJ’s cases are at the center of it.

Drawing from a sweeping 200-page federal report compiled from the findings of 17 government agencies, the film documents how the Biden Administration used the power of the federal government to target Christians, pro-life Americans, and people of faith across nearly every sphere of public life.

This week, I, along with several other ACLJ attorneys, had the privilege of attending the premiere of By Dawn’s Early Light at the Trump Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. This new documentary details the federal government’s own findings documenting anti-Christian bias and government weaponizat...

The government does not get to silence a preacher. Another victory for religious liberty.

The First Amendment won in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. When the ACLJ sent a legal demand letter to Lancaster city officials on behalf of preacher Jeff Russell, we made one thing clear: The Constitution is not optional, and Lancaster’s own noise ordinance – Chapter 198 – explicitly exempts First ....
