A 6th grader sits crying in her middle school gymnasium.
Had she been crying because she was sick, frightened, injured, bullied, or emotionally overwhelmed, school officials likely would have contacted her parents immediately. Instead, they made her sit there knowing she was upset because the content of the "inclusion" assembly violated her religious beliefs.
For most school districts, an incident like this would be shocking. But for Highline Public School District in Burien, Washington, it has become a pattern.
For the third time ACLJ is intervening to stand up for this family's right to exercise their religious beliefs. This latest episode is a clear sign the district has no intention to stop its attacks against Christians on its own.
