The SWACCA Board of Directors is in Portsmouth, New Hampshire this week for our 2026 Strategic Planning Session.

Over the next days, we'll be discussing the opportunities, priorities, and challenges shaping the wall and ceiling industry, along with the initiatives that will help guide our association in the year ahead. It's an opportunity to step away from the day-to-day, collaborate, share ideas, and focus on how we can better serve our members.

We're looking forward to a productive week. Thank you to our Board of Directors for your time, leadership, and continued commitment to SWACCA's future.

10 Stories in 10 Weeks | Celebrating a Decade of SWACCA

General Counsel John Nesse has been a driving force behind the growth of SWACCA's labor relations program, helping expand its education and resources to better serve contractors across the country.

This September, that work comes together at the inaugural SWACCA Labor Relations Summit.

Designed for owners, executives, and senior leaders, the Summit brings together contractors, regional affiliate executives, and other industry leaders for two-and-a-half days of education and conversations on collective bargaining, workforce challenges, government relations, trustee education, and the issues shaping the future of the union wall and ceiling industry.

10 Stories in 10 Weeks | Celebrating a Decade of SWACCA

Clark Townsend has been committed to SWACCA's growth, helping strengthen the association through his leadership as Treasurer and his work with the Membership Committee.

His connection to SWACCA goes back years. He watched his father, former SWACCA President Matt Townsend, testify before Congress on worker misclassification. Today, Clark is building on that legacy through his leadership on the SWACCA Board of Directors.

Looking ahead, Clark is focused on continuing to strengthen SWACCA and creating more opportunities for contractors to connect, get involved, and help shape the future of the industry.

As we celebrate SWACCA's 10-year anniversary, we're grateful for leaders like Clark who are helping strengthen the organization and shape its future.

In his session, The Economic Outlook: Construction Industry Economic Update, Dr. Basu will break down the economic factors shaping the construction industry and what contractors should pay attention to as they plan for the future.

From labor markets and inflation to interest rates and construction activity, attendees will leave with a better understanding of what these trends could mean for their businesses.

10 Stories in 10 Weeks | Celebrating a Decade of SWACCA

As SWACCA's current President, Shawn Burnum believes some of SWACCA's biggest opportunities are still ahead.

He's looking forward to continued growth of SWACCA's work in public policy, labor relations, education, and innovation. This includes creating more opportunities for contractors to get involved, share their perspectives, and help shape the future of the industry.

For Shawn, one of SWACCA's biggest strengths is its ability to bring contractors together. Whether it's discussing challenges facing the industry, sharing ideas, or working toward common goals, these discussions help move the industry forward.

As we celebrate SWACCA's 10-year anniversary, we're grateful for leaders like Shawn who continue to invest their time and energy into strengthening the association and the industry it serves.
