The economy affects nearly every aspect of the construction industry, from bidding work and managing projects to making hiring decisions.

We're excited to welcome Dr. Anirban Basu, Chairman & CEO of Sage Policy Group, to the 2026 SWACCA Labor Relations Summit.

Widely regarded as one of the leading economists in the construction industry, Dr. Basu serves as Chief Economist for Associated Builders and Contractors, the Construction Financial Management Association, and several other industry organizations.

In his session, The Economic Outlook: Construction Industry Economic Update, Dr. Basu will break down the economic factors shaping the construction industry and what contractors should pay attention to as they plan for the future.

From labor markets and inflation to interest rates and construction activity, attendees will leave with a better understanding of what these trends could mean for their businesses.

10 Stories in 10 Weeks | Celebrating a Decade of SWACCA

As SWACCA's current President, Shawn Burnum believes some of SWACCA's biggest opportunities are still ahead.

He's looking forward to continued growth of SWACCA's work in public policy, labor relations, education, and innovation. This includes creating more opportunities for contractors to get involved, share their perspectives, and help shape the future of the industry.

For Shawn, one of SWACCA's biggest strengths is its ability to bring contractors together. Whether it's discussing challenges facing the industry, sharing ideas, or working toward common goals, these discussions help move the industry forward.

As we celebrate SWACCA's 10-year anniversary, we're grateful for leaders like Shawn who continue to invest their time and energy into strengthening the association and the industry it serves.

10 Stories in 10 Weeks | Celebrating a Decade of SWACCA

Throughout his time with SWACCA, Geoff Furtaw has been a strong advocate for fair competition and responsible business practices.

Representing both Ceilings, Inc. and SWACCA before FTC Commissioner Alvaro Bedoya was an opportunity to share firsthand how worker misclassification affects responsible contractors.

For Geoff, advocacy is about making sure contractors have a voice when decisions affecting the industry are being made.

As we celebrate SWACCA's 10-year anniversary, we're grateful for leaders like Geoff who have helped advance the organization's mission.

10 Stories in 10 Weeks | Celebrating a Decade of SWACCA

Gregg Brady has been part of SWACCA since the beginning.

As a founding board member and Immediate Past President, he's had a front-row seat to the organization's growth over the last 10 years. When asked what stands out most, Gregg pointed to the people who have helped move SWACCA forward and growing member involvement.

"The committees have really taken the ball and run with it."

Looking back on the past decade, Gregg said one of the most rewarding things has been watching members become more involved and take an active role in shaping the organization. From committees to board leadership, participation and engagement has helped SWACCA grow and strengthen its impact across the industry.

As we celebrate SWACCA's 10-year anniversary, we're grateful for leaders like Gregg and the many members who have helped shape the organization along the way.

10 Stories in 10 Weeks | Celebrating a Decade of SWACCA

During his time as SWACCA President, Scott Casabona helped bring the issue of worker misclassification to a national stage through a Fortune op-ed focused on independent contractor regulations that could impact labor protections and create an uneven playing field for responsible contractors.

Looking back, it’s a reminder of how important SWACCA’s advocacy work gives a voice to many and improves the future of the industry.

As SWACCA celebrates a decade, we’re proud of the leadership and advocacy efforts that have helped strengthen the wall and ceiling industry.
