Alzheimer's Impact Movement AIM is the advocacy arm of the Alzheimer’s Association, working to make Alzheimer's disease a national priority.

The Alzheimer’s Impact Movement is supported by Americans who believe a world without Alzheimer’s is not only possible, but that we will reach that day much more quickly if our movement is fully engaged in all facets of the political process. We rely on financial contributions from our supporters and members; every dollar helps us make strides in our fight to end this devastating, heartbreaking, tragic and ultimately fatal disease.

We’re proud to spearhead a letter with Leaders Engaged on Alzheimer’s Disease (LEAD Coalition) to advance the bipartisan Alzheimer’s Screening and Prevention (ASAP) Act. Calvin Hara of Hawaii is our August Advocate of the Month! Calvin spent close to 30 years as a long-term care and assisted living administrator. He's dedicated the last decade to the fight to in honor of his mother and uncle who both lived with dementia.

This year, Calvin joined a caregiver panel at the 2026 AIM Advocacy Forum, marking his eighth trip to Washington, D.C., as an advocate. "When we hear about screening, a blood test for Alzheimer's, that means hope," Calvin told the Forum audience. "Our children and grandchildren hopefully will not need to have a discussion about how to care for someone with Alzheimer's."

Calvin's advocacy has helped translate into real results. In Hawaii, Calvin and his fellow advocates secured a $3 million annual state appropriation to establish the HANAI Memory Network Program, which will improve early diagnosis, care navigation and treatment access. At the federal level, Calvin's voice was crucial in building support for the BOLD Infrastructure for Alzheimer's Act, which Calvin sees as crucial to supporting Hawaii's Executive Office of Aging.
