With yellow roses in hand, students from Mount Harmony Elementary School recently visited Constitution Gardens, the future home of the Women’s Suffrage National Monument.

As they learned about the women who helped shape our democracy, their visit served as a powerful reminder: this history is not distant, it is still being discovered, shared, and carried forward every day.

The women who fought for the right to vote spent their lives working toward a future they would never personally see. They marched, organized, and persevered because they believed the generations that followed would carry their vision forward.

Today, we are the beneficiaries of that vision.

The Women’s Suffrage National Monument will ensure their legacy is permanently woven into the National Mall, honoring the women who helped shape our democracy and inviting future generations to see themselves in its story.

Our staff and members of our board were honored to attend the unveiling of the 19th Amendment in the rotunda of the National Archives Building alongside our advisors and ambassadors, A'Lelia Bundles and Norah O'Donnell, Rebecca Roberts, and Page Harrington, who helped mark this historic moment.

Now displayed alongside our nation’s founding documents for the first time in nearly 75 years, the addition of the 19th Amendment and the Emancipation Proclamation marks an important step in telling the story of American democracy.
