The Fall Board Meeting of the Board for Certification of Genealogists will be held on 𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟕𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐭 𝟗 𝐚𝐦 𝐌𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞 at the Radisson at Downtown, in Salt Lake City, Utah. BCG associates are invited to attend in-person or via Zoom. A link was provided to associates via email.

𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐑𝐨𝐝𝐝𝐲, 𝐂𝐆®, 𝐂𝐆𝐆®! Mary earned her CG® in 2019 and her CGG® in 2024. She was elected as a BCG Trustee in 2021.
𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐠𝐨𝐚𝐥𝐬:
1) Mary has three 3rd Irish great-great grandmothers whose last names are unknown, and she would love to fill those blanks on her pedigree chart.
2) Mary would like to publish more of her family history. She has two published articles in the NGSQ with another in the pipeline. Another of her articles will be published in the upcoming October 2026 issue of the NYG&B 𝑅𝑒𝑐𝑜𝑟𝑑. Mary encourages genealogists to publish their work: “Learning from peer reviewers and editors is an education all in itself.”

𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: What’s the best way to go about selecting a case study? I’m researching several problems that might be suitable, although work on them remains incomplete. I don’t know which one I should focus on.
𝐀𝐧𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐫: The best way to select a case study is to have several completed options from which to choose. The process of researching and writing up several is an excellent way to develop your skills, and seeing each one in its final form can help you decide which one is best. This same approach will also serve you well with the other portfolio requirements.
