On America250, we spent the Fourth at Cedar Hill listening to Frederick Douglass’s 1852 Fourth of July address and the Declaration of Independence. From his home’s view of the Capitol to the Lincoln Memorial beyond, these places remind us that history is human—made by those who left their mark, and by those brave enough to carry their lessons forward.

What happens when history, community, and purpose come together?

Something remarkable.💕

Our community came together to commemorate Juneteenth, celebrate freedom, and experience the remarkable impact of history, heritage, and community united.

Throughout the day, friends, neighbors, descendants, families, historians, artists, musicians, veterans, and community partners experienced moments of remembrance, learning, music, fellowship, and inspiration—demonstrating the power of preserving places that connect generations.

These photographs capture more than an event. They preserve moments of unity, reflection, and hope that remind us our shared heritage continues to bring people together.

Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, performed, sponsored, and supported this year's Juneteenth & America250 Community Commemoration. Because of you, the legacy of Pierce Chapel African Cemetery continues to educate, inspire, and strengthen our community for generations to come.

We invite you share you favorite photos and memories from the celebration in the comments!

Together, we laughed, learned, reflected, and connected across generations. We were reminded that when history, community, and purpose come together, something remarkable happens.

The power of place is real. For nearly two centuries, Pierce Chapel African Cemetery has carried the stories of those who came before us.

Thank you to every attendee, volunteer, artist, presenter, sponsor, descendant, community partner, and friend who made this celebration possible. Your presence helped transform remembrance into a living experience.
